Rubbish, it was a comparison on their ability to get things done. Unlike this republican lead congress who would prefer to send the country bankrupt rather than pass a bill. If that is an prime example of democracy at work to the rest of those dictatorial regimes around the world, then they don't have much to worry about.
If you want to talk about being a hypocrite bringing Al Gore's name up all the time as if you expect him to be camped on a iceberg with a polar bear to have credibility. What about all those right wing evangelists who ask for donations to feed the poor, providing the poor are offshore 1000's of miles away. Do they live in a mud hut because I haven't seen too many Mother Theresa's amongst that lot except lots of limo's and mansions.
We will see what the report says today, and your lot can rant on about .5 of a degree air temp and ignore the ocean temps rise completely. Just as it always has been.
What world are you living in? China lies about their carbon emissions. They throw people in prison who disagree with them. They can talk all they want about lowering emissions, that doesn't mean it's going to happen and YET you tell me they are getting things done while at the same time the US is the one that actually lowered our emissions.

Carbon emissions from the United States have never fallen this much, not after the first oil price shock following the Arab oil embargo of 1973, nor after the Iranian revolution of 1979, when American drivers suddenly discovered the virtues of Japanese small cars and President Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the White House to heat the water.

What stands out most in this shift, however, is not environmental regulation or public concern about global warming but the price of energy and market-driven technological advancements.“It wasn’t so much a policy shift that brought carbon emissions down,” said James Hamilton, an energy economist at the University of California, San Diego.“It was irresistible market forces.”

Sooo close.
You almost were able to criticize the leaders of the global warming crusade, but you balked.
Joe Sixpack sees that as well. They heard the message, got the lo-flo toilets, the curly-cue lightbulbs, the low content packaging, the smaller (less safe) hi-mileage vehicles because that's what the "experts" were advising.
Yet the advocates kept saying,'That's fine, but you need to do more'.
More? What more can one do with limited budgets? Well, lets take a look at what others are doing? Maybe I can get some ideas from them. How about the 'leaders'?
Hmmm... private jets, SUV caravans, separate plane flights, 1 mile chauffeured trips .... huh?
Joe Sixpack wonders...'If they're the ones making the claims, shouldn't then be acting like it's really a crisis? Why do they get a pass? Why am I expected to further change my lifestyle but they don't?'
Oh... they're special, say you. They're leaders, and they're affluent. They're buying their carbon credits and don't have to abide by their own preaching.
Special? Wait a sec... they live on the same planet, don't they? This affects them as much as me, doesn't it? And they're the ones telling me what to do. What gives? I'm now responsible for offsetting their CO2 as well as my own?
B-b-b-but as you say, it's not about them and it's about you and the "science".
Ahh... OK. The 'science'. The 'science' they're preaching but not abiding, or is there a special 'science' for those special affluent leaders?
And from you? "Quit whining and shut up."
Sums it up pretty well I'd say.
This is the same "Joe Sixpack" that Fox feeds the propaganda that it is ok because the basis of capitalism is that those with the means have the right to buy whatever they can pay for. All the while neglecting to tell Joe that they have actually lost buying power over the past two or so decades while the affluent have doubled their wealth. That the top ONE percent take in about 42% of the income and the top 10% hold about 90% of the wealth as they continue taking a larger and larger share of the wealth since just before the great depression.

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/10/03/3...

So yes, the wealthy take more than their share. And yes our leaders should set an example for the rest of us. However that is not the way America works. There is no sense of having power and wealth unless you can abuse it. Let us break that consensus and cause capitalism to benefit everyone, not just the wealthy investors. Fox will tell poor old dumb Joe that capitalism is good for him, that giving more to the affluent will benefit him. Well, it is about time for old Joe to look at the numnbers!

More out of the denier playbook that does nothing to diminish the science of global warming. The so called stanstill is nothing more than a weather event due to ocean interactions. If the temperature cooled back down to near the average temperatures of the mid 1900's, there might be a point. However, even with the slightly cooler sun we see no cooling event. The oceans are warming, ice is melthing, sea level is rising.... The past decade is the warmest ever recorded.....There is a 95% confidence that the globe is warming and that human activities are a significant factor.

If a cooling can be considered natural variability over the last 15 years why can't warming over the last 50?
And if co2 causes warming....and it's doubled in recent years....why did it cool anyway?

There is no GLOBAL cooling under the man-made CO2 malady, grief.

A general statement for you.. is that "new" climate thingies will happen without warning because of the ever increasing man-made emissions..

No, it is not exactly true that Mann recieved the Nobel Prize. However, Michael Mann contributed to the reports of the IPCC, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. His work did contribute to the Prize. That is a highly significant recognition of his work as well as others who contributed. So indirectly, his work was recognized by the Nobel Prize.

It's not capitalism that causes wealthy to take more than their fair share. If that were the case, then all the dictatorship countries should have a healthy upper middle class. Instead, just two classes, rich and poor. Political class and peasants. We are becoming more like that because government and big corporations have engaged to rig the system with crony capitalism and are driving out the middle class and small businesses and Obama's policies are making it worse.

In the 2009-2010 period, a time of modest economic growth, the top 1 percent of U.S. earners captured 93 percent of all the income growth in the country.

Got that? Now compare it to how the mega-rich made out during the Bush upswing years of 2002 to 2007. During that time, the top 1 percent of earners captured just 65 percent of all the income growth.

That means the rising tide has lifted fewer boats during the Obama years -- and the ones it's lifted have been mostly yachts.

You make too much sense, so you must be a LIAR. Isn't it funny how natural variability fits perfectly into what we have been seeing over the past 100 years while the CO2 hypothesis doesn't, but yet we are "deniers" and LIARS. Co2 has increased at a faster pace then predicted and yet temperatures have reached a standstill, sea level rise is not alarming, the Arctic still has ice, the Antarctic has more ice than ever, the seas aren't warming as predicted and yet we are the "deniers" and LIARS.

Funny, this is what NASA has to say about the satellite data observations…Although the results of the analysis have concluded that the Earth’s ice sheets are melting at the alarming rate of 300 billion tons per year, the report indicates that satellite data obtained of the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets is insufficient to determine whether the acceleration of the melting ice will continue at the same rate, resulting in the need for more satellite analysis.

Funny how you think SLR can only stay the same or go up. Never crosses your mind that it could go down too?
No, because idiotic notions don't cross my mind in the same way they do yours.
Sea levels are rising faster now than in the previous two millennia, and the rise will continue to accelerate – regardless of the emissions scenario, even with strong climate mitigation.(This is due to the inertia in the system.)

Natural Variability
Variations in the mean state and other statistics (such as standard deviations or statistics of extremes) of the climate on all time and space scales beyond that of individual weather events. Natural variations in climate over time are caused by internal processes of the climate system, such as El Niño, as well as changes in external influences, such as volcanic activity and variations in the output of the sun.[8][13]
