THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!

We Must Stop This Immediately

Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper. Groceries are heavier. And, everything is farther away.. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!
And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.
I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection. Well, REALLY NOW-- even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!
Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.
Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20? Do they think no one notices? The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank. Do they think I actually 'believe' the number I see on that dial? HA! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're fooling?
I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in there!
All I can do is pass along this warning:
WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!
Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

Former Sectretary of State, Madeline Albright stated in an interview one time, "somewhere", that she hoped that our nation didn't grow to become "paranoid" as a result of 9/11. She spoke with much eloquence, as any Secretary of State.

She was right, but, everybody still knows that in these modern times, we still have the paranoid culture left from these last fifty years; WWII, Great Economic times in the Fifties, The Space Race, Cold War, The Sexual Revolution, HIV... I don't need to mention the former S&L "Scandal" as it was named back then. I guess that I don't even need to mention The Internet.

The problem is that not everybody is capaple of understanding everything about our world or even our little towns. Please, don't deny that not everybody has been dealt the best hand of cards. Hell, I haven't even begun to mention the advent of LSD!!

Please, Say It Isn't So,

I dont think there is much we can do about getting old Peter Griffin. God put that in motion and you cant change what god has in plan. As far as our nation being "paranoid" thats too late. Just like with the swine flu. I think people went a lil over board but that is my opinion which i am entitled too. I mean they closed schools to keep kids home so they go to the mall where i believe they could catch more there then at school. I do agree with you a big problem is that not everybody is capable of understanding everything about our world or even our lil towns. I love Jacksboro and I do not plan on moving. My fore fathers helped make this town.

neves, you are late, and, if you had been paying attention, your opinions would have halted the a nation's decision to become communist. Oh well, you did your best, neves.
Thankfully, there are so many people that want to protect our society from communism that we all won't be effected by your non-publishing expressions.
I mean to say that you can't make an arguement to save your communist life. In other words, I think that you are a commy, neves.
You don't have the guts to stick up for the slightest of the abused let alone those whom are severely abused.
You live in your own cushy world, neves! Do something about it!

Sorry Neves,

Yeah, its a good thread. "say it isn't so" seems like a nice, intellegent person. In this case, I think that things are as they seem. And you, Neves, maybe you're not a communist.

C'mon, I was only tryin' to spark some enthusiam. I would suppose that with you I have succeeded in my endeavor to spark enthusiams.:)

Well, I suppose that we should try to incorporate you post into the thread. It seems that "say it isn't so" doesn't mind. I like your style with the name calling in print, Neves.'People like You' is very fitting, but, we should talk about those others? We shou..... The methheads, drunks and them abused are a good topic, but, they are a good topic along the lines of "growing older".

None of us has lived a cushy life. The terminology is cushy at best. I'm sorry again, Neves. It looks like I've shown you the meaning of this thread again without actually being effective.

So vie so, I'm sorry. I think that you have much to say that's good.

again your rambling on about nothing that has anything to do about the original thread which started out as humor about getting old.then you turn it into a bitch fest about commies, and whatever else you have to say.

Just look at you, Neves. Still, you don't understand the crux of the point made by "say it isn't so".

If anyone were to gain immortality by razing about getting old, then we'd all be millionaires. You shall ask me to tell you that I think that you are an asshole? Hey, Neves, there's a hole in your ass...

Fix it or not, the observation takes place. No problem, its just that when the "Evening Post" comes out, you are not on it.

I don't want to compare apples(assholes) and oranges(barrages), but, I don't like your tone when you have been given the elementary attitude in the first post.

You and others say that I am trying to change the meaning of the first post. Well, I suggest that you didn't understand the first post. I took a mile, yes, and, I ran it.

Another suggestion, let's try to understand one another when posting in the serious. Bitch=Fest, BTW, is never a way of saying that someone has trampled onto the thread.

you are rambling, again, nevey You just got told? I don't think so.

no more rambling, neves, just quotes

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate...we can not consecrate...we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us葉hat from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion葉hat we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain葉hat this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom預nd that government: of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

yeah, well, although lincoln was a lawyer... it can't be helped. let's hear a quote from you about times changing, neves. i have accepted your proposal about nonsense.

I think it was about getting old,but since I suffer from 'old timers' I may have forgotten what the topic was about to begin with.Getting old isn't so bad ,when we do get old we then have so many good excuses for screwing up an no one blinks an eye when we do it.Let a young person mess up and wham! they get slammed.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Taurus

The current planetary influences tend to make everyone groan a bit. Life is not perfect and may be less pleasant than usual, but what can you do? Get real for one thing! That's the way it is and once you accept this, everything becomes much easier to handle. Be solid and dutiful - qualities for which the Bull is renowned - and you'll come out the other side with your halo polished. Focus on some undeveloped potential in your life and take the first steps towards realising it.
