Hi,
The last time I had checked in on it, both Lake City nursing home & Windwood in Clinton gave the classes, they ask that once certified you stay with them for at least a yr. but most move on to larger hospitals. However they pay for on site training so you cant beat that, free classes and paid training with a guarenteed job! Call and check in on it, I wish you luck!

I teach CNA classes and you can take these at Lake City and Sunbridge of Lafollette. The hospital in Lafollette and the vocational school also offers classes. They are free @ Lake City and most nursing homes plus you get paid minimum wage until u are certified then you move up to the going rate for each facility.

Sorry for typos. I meant,'these'.
I also wanted to add that I tried contacting one of the nursing homes mentioned above and I was disconnected with the lady I was speaking with. When I tried to call back I wasn't able to reach her.

I think it is Linda Powell that teaches it at Lake City now. Sunbridge is the other and I do not know who teaches it there. Just keep calling because there is a desperate need for CNA's. They are the back bone of the nursing homes! I give props to them. Keep trying to get thru, you are needed!

my explanation for that statement was that they will make u sign a contract with them to work for a year or pay some ridiculous amount of money for your training so then they will give you the oddest hours and anytime somebody is sick they will call you in and if you say no they will give you the worst halls or rooms and cut your hours or penalize you for saying no.i am not coming in.you basically will be putty in their hands and they will treat you like shit either way they will make you pay for the free training.they offer it in clinton through the adult ed program for about 300 bucks

Why am I not surprised. Shame that, though.(was right too... tough to stomach)

Can't be that they would give you free training so that you would WANT to work for them for longer then the first year - as in have pride in the company's ethics and support, and want to be a part of their team because of their stellar example of "A great company to have pride in being associated with them and their mission"

What ever happened to that....

I wouldn't be any good with the program then. The first time they would try to make ME the fool for them by treating me like " I own you, and you owe me therefore I treat you like shit and get off on it cuz I can so smile b*tch" I'd give them an instant one-way express ticket to the dumpster, so what's the point.

Oh,well... it's a great concept in theory, anyway.

As to the class in Clinton for 300 bucks, how long is the course(s)? Is the rep to that specific program given by the adult ed in clinton, any good?
