before the internet, it was the greatest way to get news and information.

It's not the greatest thing ever, but it is very valuable for sharing information.

I would imagine it's all of the above.

Today I was in a local hospital waiting room, a large flat screen television hung on the wall. The today show was on at a volume of about 10. I was trying to read a book but the noise was too loud. I went to turn down the volume but a sign said please do not touch the television, I tried anyway but the volume button had been removed. I could not escape, I might miss my turn in the x-ray line-up. The show's host was twirling on a suspended rope contraption, the purpose I suppose was to do a backflip. The co-hosts urged him on. The crowd cheered and was excited, they clapped and jumped up and down in anticipation, they held up signs. A group of five people also waiting for x-rays gathered around the set. The host pulled off the backflip. Everyone cheered and clapped. It made me wish for the good old days of 24 hour Michael Jackson coverage, or a double zoloft and scotch rocks.
My vote: The best thing ever.

With that vivid composition, which seemed illustrate something more along the line of mindless pap, boob tube, or even babysitter (for adults?), it may lead one to wonder if you've already had one too many "doubles", to consider voting for "The best thing ever".
