There are 2 comments on the story from Oct 13, 2008, titled Ithaca wants to be America's first podcar city. In it, reports that:

To Jacob Roberts, podcars - or PRTs, for personal rapid transit - represent an important component in the here-and-now of transportation.

i think it would be nice for a few but if opened to the public the cost for keeping them clean and useable will be too costly and the company will tank the first year

As with all public-personal transports, I'm worried about what happens when you realize that you forgot your bag on the podcar, only to wind that you're unable to access the one you were riding--for whatever reason. That would probably happen to me very often.
