Marcellus Shale = Fossil Fool

Our clean energy future is in danger. Corporate polluters are using misleading advertising, PR scare tactics, and insider lobbying to threaten the future of our planet. In 2009, Big Oil spent more than $150 million lobbying, and oil and coal industries have so many lobbyists they outnumber Congress members 5 to 1! Organizations like the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity and American Petroleum Institute are responsible for confusing the public and lobbying against climate solutions.
On April 1st, students and concerned community members across the world will participate in Fossil Fools Day. The message is simple:“Fossil fools” in the big oil, coal, and gas industries must stop blocking climate solutions so that elected officials can finally take the bold climate action we desperately need.
We can't make progress in clean energy until we challenge corporate polluters. Universities must take the lead by publicly demanding that the polluters stop stalling, play fair, and quit spending millions to block climate solutions. Here in Ithaca, Cornell can take the lead by opposing the Marcellus Shale project and not leasing any university property for drilling. I call on Cornell and Provost W. Kent Fuchs to make the right choice.
Oppose fossil fools like Marcellus Shale, support renewable energy like wind and solar, and advocate for clean energy jobs that young people need.
