To suggest that higher family 'stress levels' cause impairment to cognitive functioning based on the fact that both conditions exist is falacious reasoning. It may or may not be true.

The researcher's conclusions do seem to conveniently support the notion that yet again, the poverty stricken are a victim class. The new twist is that they now have a physiological excuse for their cyclical failure to thrive.

I envision a state funding program in the future...
