Why is Island Park the only village in Nassau County that will give its students a CHOICE as to which High School to attend? Why isn't this offered to the rest of Long Island? Why can't Roosevelt students go to West Hempstead H.S.? This also underscores the stupidity of having so many school districts in one Town. The Town of Hempstead should merge all school districts into one to cut down on administrative costs such as multiple Superintendents, counselors, clerical staff etc. The tax payers are being victimized. SCHOOL CHOICE/ CHARTER SCHOOLS/ VOUCHERS NOW!

West Hempstead stands to lose $1 million+ a year thanks to their lax attitude about IP kids. That will mean less students, fewer electives, less AP classes and faculty layoffs

Good job West Hempstead

West Hempstead did nothing wrong, there were some Island Park Parents who wanted the choice.

the relocation is probably being caused by new families moving in and not understanding the whole history through the years with west hempstead.

You are correct. I hope that now the residents of Island Park can go on with their lives and that everyone can be friends again. I have lived in this small town all of my life and it is a shame how such a close and quaint community became divided. I am hoping we can all look toward the future of our children as we always have and will continue to do so. That being paramount. I also hope that this decision can once again unite us all.

So how many of you people throughout the state of New York would to see Fort Pickett near Blackstone, VA become an outlying landing field for the U.S. Navy jets stationed at Fentress Field in Chesapeake, VA and Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA!?
