what happened to the town?

what happened? the town is going down the tubes. Nothing is getting fixed, Thay put down dirty sand on the beach. In town has a new camera (but does it really work). The grass needs cutting, lights are out, streets flood when it rains. Nassau Ln has been like that for years and getting worse. The Village hall, FD, and Village garage all look like crap. No upkeep. The DPW need more help (people leave and don't get replaced). Time for a new party? The town is not safe.

I intend to go to EVERY meeting from here on, they will probably make my life miserable but I don't see how different that can be from living in a town that is being given away to illegals, drunks, crazies and losers.

Chris: 9/18/08 @ 8:00PM at the Village Hall is the next Board meeting - it's the dilapidated "house"-like structure by the LIRR station.

TONIGHT @ 7:00PM is the Civic Association meeting - at the Library. I didn't even KNOW we had a civic association.

I have got to say I moved here in 2007 from long beach..... It's only over the bridge!!! I decided to buy a house here and start a family, little did I know! Since I moved here there has been two shootings on my block and a homicide and my neighbor burned his house down because he was so stoned!!! I have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life... This was such a mistake!! I never knew Island Park was such a low life town! I think the main problem here is that I would say 90% percent of the people are renters. I think they need to raise the taxes and force all of the low lifes out of here. I'm starting to expect it from this disgusting town! there are illegal immigrants all over this place, bums hanging out on the corners at the "bodegas" (every other store is a bodega)! not to mention the broken down taxi stand! oh and by the way who ever owns the little red choo choo should be fined for keeping that building in kind of condition! you people need to wake up and smell the coffee. no wonder the town is like this what can you expect when you pay the lowest taxes then anywhere else on the island.. I feel like I live in little havanna. Not a quaint little town. Kids from central long beach hang out at village hall at night drinking and doing drugs in the summer. I called the cops and they told me they would try there best to see what was going on, but it may take a while for them to get there! If the economy wasn't so down in the dumps I would have been out of here a long time ago!!! I'm gonna say it again WHAT A MISTAKE IT WAS MOVING TO ISLAND PARK!!!!!!!!!! I am definately the minority here!

And just what have you done as a resident to try and make thin gs better?? Go to the board meetings and talk. Get a set of Balls and stir the pot. Get your neighbors and friends to go. If a lot of people go they will have to stert listining. If you really want to shake the tree run for office.Maybe I'll see you there.
