I've eaten at Lola's a couple of times before, but now I have had it. While the food has never been great, its been decent....

However, my wife and I were there tonight, and it was absolutely awful. First of all, my wife was given a plate of mussels where 4 out of 10 were completely closed. I ordered the hanger steak and it was burned so bad, it tasted like charcoal. I still have the awful taste in my mouth.

I'm not normally one to complain, but I had to mention about my steak at least, which I did to the very nice waitress. She said that she would bring the bill to the manager and he would take something off of the bill. She came back and said the manager offered to buy us a desert.

Both of us being diabetic, and not really interested in desert, politely declined and proceeded to be handed the full bill. I asked the waitress if something was to be taken off, and she informed me that it was either a free desert or nothing according to her manager. I asked to speak with the manager, and waited for 10 minutes before finally leaving.

Now, its not as if this restaurant was so busy that the manager could not have come right over. There were maybe 10 occupied tables, and I was able to see the manager sitting there doing absolutely nothing after he was told by the waitress that we would like to see him.

I'm not looking for a free ride. We made no complaint about my wife's undercooked mussels, and was more than happy to tip the waitress 20 percent on our bill. However I was disturbed by the way I as a customer was treated by the manager. SOMETHING should have been taken off of the bill. At the very least the manager should have come over to our table like they would do in any other decent restaurant.

I would also stay away from the caesar salad... Mayo does not = caesar dressing! But again, I did not complain about that either.

I do NOT recommend this restaurant, and will certainly not be returning. There are plenty of other restaurants in town with much better food at a better price.

To the owner of Lola's. I highly recommend you do not disregard this complaint. All of us in business know there are people you just can't please but you shouldn't assume this is the case till you have spoken to the customer. What kind of Manager doesn't manage??? Don't find out the hard way that your business isn't being run properly.

Don't really want to get into an immature war with you, however I will state this.

The waitress (who I still tipped adequately mind you) never came back to ask how everything was. I did not "eat" the steak. I had two bites, and left the rest. As soon as the waitress came over, I informed her, and she informed the manager.

I have eaten there before as I have said and the steak had always been decent. This was not about the money at all. It's about courtesy, restaurant etiquette, and proper management.

I'm giving a review as to my experience. I did mention I have eaten there previously, I had gone with my wife for about four of their "wine nights" where they offer the three wine samples.

I am not someone who comes into a restaurant once and is looking for money off of my bill. I have ordered their hanger steak before. This time the meat was burned through. A little crispy on top with a hanger is fine for me, this was not even close. Thats all there is too it. I'm not really even complaining about that. My complaint lies with the way that the manager handled the situation. At the very least he could have made a personal visit, after it was requested by the waitress.

The only thing that could make it worse, is if you TIGHTWADS are the manager himself.

Cheers.

No ,

I'm not the manager, just a local guy that doesn't want to see a good place go down b/c of 1 persons bad experience. you are probably right, the manager should have done something for you. However, as you know, times are bad enough these day's. all it takes is one or two bad reviews and a good place can go down. I don't think that's right. especially since, as you said, youve had many good experiences at Lolas. Quite, honestly, I really don't give a rats ass. However, Ive frequented the place and the food, staff, and everything else has been very pleasant. In any case, no hard feelings. I will go back! I can't say the same for you! Cheers back to you!

I hope my review does make Lola's better, but you are correct. I will not be returning.

Ok well I have to voice my opinion about the Management at Lolas.
This past Summer I walked in the place with 8 people...family mostly.
The temperature was in the 80's but very high humidity..they had the french doors open all around the restaurant which they often do however there wer only 2 people sitting outside and they didnt have thier AC on at all..It was 85 degrees in the restaurant and we asked if they could at least put the AC on and they refused. We asked for the mamnager and HE said NO..So they let 8 people walk out and go to Nick D' Angelos...which we dropped a little over 350 dollars.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Virgo

This is not a day for sitting still if you can possibly avoid it because it will be a fast track to bad temper and sharp-tongued outbursts. Have plenty of short breaks, go for lots of walks or work up a sweat in the gym in your lunch-hour. If you're driving, keep an eye on the speedometer because it will be very tempting to go too fast and you'll be furious if you're caught.
