I'm not sure people really knew what they were voting for.(a 1 or 5 year contract) It seems that some thought it was for all kids to go to LB or WH. I know some realtors that were telling people that going to LB will increase the value of their home, how??.(THAT'S A LIE)I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

It will definatly increase Island Parks real estate. Your a fool if you think otherwise. Young people are not moving to IP. If they are going to pay $6,000 or more a yr for catholic/private school why not pay more taxes somewhere else. A town with a HS. LB is a neighboring community-it makes sense. WH is no longer a solution. Quite frankly the people of IP deserve more. There are generations dedicated to IP. Those people a entitled to as many options as they can get.

After many years of service to the children of Island Park West Hempstead residents were hjust shafted.

Very bad news for the West Hempstead High School District.

If the residents of West Hempstead are smart they will now ask to join the consolidated Sewanhaka High School District. That will make there property values go even higher than they are already going.

Yes you read that correctly. Property values in western Nassau towns close to the city line have stabilized and are now going up due to the tremendous increase in the price of gasoline and their closer proximity to LIRR and the Jamaica subway line. New Hyde Park property values are going off the charts. Some things never change. It is always about LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! A $4+ a gallon western Nassau is now "THE LOCATION!"

i grew up in i.p. went to w.h. back then long beach was kind of dumpy.property values aren't rising in i.p. with all the crap that is moving in,and all the flooding every time it rains with a high tide. yeah i want my kids going to a school located closer to the ocean. when the big storm surge hits i'd rather my kids be in west hempstead.

quite frankly, west hempstead is obviously still the solution for many island park families considering that the majority of the current 8th graders will be attending west hempstead high school in the fall.

Your lack of knowledge aout both the real estate value in IP the LBSD must be the reason you would make such ignorant comments. If LB gets swallowed by the ocean so does most of LI

ah i dont think you realize what lb public schools are like they wear uniforms because of all the gang problems in lb....so no kids can wear colors putting kids from ip in lb is like putting kittens in a lions den
Nobody wears uniforms in the LBSD. Although I think it's a great idea. Do you see how these kids dress today, EVERYWHERE. All the HS's are proactive when it comes to gang activity.

Oh Mamma, you are always sooo hot under the collar. I find it to be most intresting that 28 children are attending LBHS this comming fall and it's only year one. For you, shall I say round 1.

how long have you been in island park ? years ago i.p. was made up of generations of families, now its all illegal apartments, with all non native americans. then you get to pay high taxes on little plots of land.tell me the advantages of moving thekids from west hempstead to long beach? this issue has been going on for years. we got booted out of oceanside over the lilco plant being located in i.p. how can the county taxes go towards a city school district ? years ago that was the excuse why the change wasn't done sooner.

I heard that most of the 28 kids going to LBHS were illegal aliens that at one time lived in Long Beach. Please clarify.

Not true at all. I have spoken personally with the parents of some of the children that are going to LBHS and they told me they picked LB because of the obvious, LOCATION and that their children are honor students and it has more to offer an honor student then WH does.

I hope your acres of prairie are serving you well in Virginia. However, your inf. is incorrect. we are not using TOH tax $'s. That is a separate tax all together. We are using our school tax $'s for HS of choice.

hot under the collar??? you have some imagination. round 1??? sorry, but i don't see this as a competition and i don't see why you still feel the need to slam people's choices. i say good luck to ALL, wherever they have chosen to attend. people have made different decisions based on what was best for them...different doesn't mean right or wrong, don't take my word for it. look it up in the dictionary and then grow up.

you have no idea about the history of i.p. whether it be schools ,housing, or anything else. your only concern is lining your pockets. the cenury 21 office in i.p. was stsrted by a family with questionable background. the husband was the village clerk at the time of the hud scandal with tippy damato.
