Edison pays $27,500 to settle police excessive force and malicious prosecution suit
On July 16, 2012, the Township of Edison (Middlesex County) agreed to pay $27,500 to a man who sued members of the Edison Police Department for allegedly beating him and maliciously prosecuting him.
In his suit, Taleb Ahmed said that on September 11, 2007 he "was falsely arrested, violently assaulted and brutally beaten, hit with a weapon, pushed into the ground, and held in jail by" Edison police officers Theodore Hamer, Michael Dotro, Peter Conforte and Sergeant Jason Gerba. He claims that he was charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest, but that the Grand Jury returned a "no bill" when the Township sought an indictment against him.
The case is captioned Ahmed v. Edison, Federal Case No. 2:08-cv-00066 and Ahmed's attorney was Nicholas Martino of Marlboro. Case documents are on-line here.
None of Ahmed's allegations have been proven or disproven in court. The settlement agreement resolution expressly states that the $27,500 payment does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing by Edison or any of its officials. All that is known for sure is that Edison or its insurer, for whatever reason, decided that it would rather pay Ahmed $27,500 than take the matter to trial. Perhaps the defendants' decision to settle was done to save further legal expense and the costs of trying what were in fact exaggerated or meritless claims. Or, perhaps the claims were true and the defendants wanted to avoid being embarrassed at trial. This is the problem when cases settle before trial--it is impossible to know the truth of what really happened.

I don't appreciate your slander or deformation of character you don't know myself or my husband nor do you know the factual basis of the case. So in that case you should keep your negative comments to yourself. We are not thugs nor want to be. If there was no factual basis to our case we would not have gotten a settlement.

I just pulled this article, seems to me, this reporter pretty damn accurate on the post from few years back according to the research. To be honest, I really don't care, I live in Edison and came across this story just bored and felt the need to comment. The fact of what just happen after your MAY 4 post 2 weeks later I think sums up a little of the type of people you are.

MAY 15 2015

EDISON, Police arrested and charged Taleb Ahmed 33 of Edison after he eluded multiple police officers for several miles route 1 south driving at high rates of speed and wreck less, The incident began Route 1 South near Grandview ave after police officers signaled the driver to stop and he fled. The chase came to a stop after the suspect who was driving a "black" Sedan rammed a police cruiser head on near OLD POST & VINYARD ROADS on Route 1 South and multiple police units were able to bring the vehicle to a stop. Ahmed was taken to Middlesex County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 Bail. He also had an outstanding warrant out of New Brunswick.

I AM A REPORTER AND THIS IS A STORY THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION AND CONTINUES TOO, IT IS MY JOB. MAYBE SOMETIMES ITS GOOD TO LEAVE PAST ARTICLES IN THE PAST AND NOT BRING THEM UP AS YOU DID MAY 4TH (2 years later HMM Another scam lotto brewing?) YOU PROVED OUR OFFICE TO BE ACCURATE. I REALLY DONT CARE AND LEAVING THIS MATTER ALONE AS I HAVE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT ARTICLES TO PUBLISH. ENOUGH SAID.

EDISON A township man was charged with aggravated assault, eluding and driving under the influence after leading cops on a chase down Route 1 Monday night, police said.
Taleb Ahmed, 33, was in Middlesex County lockup on $50,000 bail after the alleged pursuit.
A concerned citizen called cops to report that Ahmed was erratically driving a Lincoln Towncar near Evergreen Road around 10 Monday night, according to Edison Police Sgt. Robert Dudash. When Officer Phil Smith tried to pull Ahmed over in Roosevelt Park, Ahmed fled down Route 1 south, according to police.
The chase lasted about three miles, with speed reaching 70 miles per hour, according to Dudash.
Ahmed had to stop in traffic near Forest Haven Boulevard, police said. He rammed his Lincoln into an Edison police cruiser, which suffered minimal damage, according to Dudash. Police said that they had to pull him out of the car, and he continued to struggle.
Ahmed was taken to JFK Hospital for minor injuries he suffered while struggling with officers, Dudash said.
No Edison officers were injured in the incident, Dudash said. Police obtained a warrant for Ahmed's blood, believing he was under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or both.
