I was there at Edison and I am deeply disturbed that this happened. this is ahameful. I am also disappointed that the organizers tried to shove this under the rug. They should have immediately appologised publicly to her and promised that the they would address the situation.
I hope that she takes legal action against those who have harrassed her.

There is more to it than you think. If she was truly harrassed mentally and physically, she should have had them arrested. This was not made aware to organizers until she was talking about it on stage. She had another event and used this as an excuse to leave early.
Dont always believe what you hear.....She is an actress who can do some good acting....she portrays these actions on the screen

If this is true then I am ashamed to be counted among Indians. All the organizers of this event should be held responsible for the alleged disgusting behavior displayed by their chosen people who were sent to escort Ms. Basu to Edison.
No one is fair game ever. Ms. Basu was an "invited guest" not some "item number." I am shocked and disgusted and hope that Ms. Basu takes some legal action.

All allegations from both sides. Until and if anyone gets to the bottom of this you can't put blame on anyone here. At least in the US you are innocent until proven guilty and a victim has recourse. The police here would have looked into the matter immediately if Bipasha had raised an alarm. I will reserve my judgement until more information is available. All this speculation in the media is ridiculious.

You were not there in the car to witness what really happened. No one likes to put them selves down. She has visited NY/NJ many times before. This is the first time she reacted this way. Think about it. SOMETHING must have happened. Don't just judge her and come to a conclusion. Even she is innocent till proven guilty of "Lying" It goes both ways.

WHat She said....

Bipasha Basu officially clears the air

This is with reference to the reports in the media about a bad experience I had in New Jersey on the weekend. To set the record straight, I would like to say that I was in New York for a few days and got a call to attend the New Jersey parade for Indian Independence Day.

Since it was Independence Day and since I knew one of the organisers and had done an event with him before, I agreed to attend.

The drive from Manhattan to New Jersey is nearly an hour. I said I prefer if a known person accompanied me on the drive. But unfortunately, the two men who landed up were not known to me.

However, since I had committed to be present at the Independence Day Parade, I decided to go ahead. Right through the drive, they spoke irresponsibly and made over-familiar and derogatory comments. I was really upset with their comments.

At the event, I brought up the matter on stage and said it is shameful that some men don’t know how to talk to a woman. The entire crowd was very supportive of my view. I am sure the two men have learnt their lesson and will never talk badly to a woman ever again.

I was there at this function...
the comments made by emcee were also not a good way to present a talented actress.

I have been watching news about this on tv asia and the organizers (President and Communications Director of IBA) seem to be trying very hard to convince every one that she is lying even without waiting for their review board to conclude. For me , i think review board is a good step would wait for them to come back and tell us what happened that day. The IBA president commented on tv that it doesnt matter weather Bipasa was there or not in the parade and no one left when shw announced the charges on stage. I dont know about others but for me it plays a role who will chief guest the parade and Bipasa is Bipasa. I am not gonna be there to see IBA president to his bukbuk. The behaviour of the organizers on stage was not good when she announced charges on stage. I agree instead of trying to stop here first thing they should have done is to apologise to her on stage instead of trying to imply that she was lying. I respect that didn't kept quite about this and one thing i didn't like was that she should have reported it to Police.
Thanks

The IBA is full of bullshit. They are too worried of loosing their hard earned reputation. Their officials are unmannered, rude, and very close minded folks. They don't know how to behave with celebreties, let alone to the general public.
There's a serious lack of professionalism in the organization.
One can easily see, in their voices, the lack of respect for women. It is about time someone spoke up. Like many of you, I also hope to have Bipasha file charges against them. She would be doing us all a favor.

This is hillarious...! I got to know all this crap from a friend. The common thread in these kind of incidents is a typical Indian behaviour...react like and imbecile and slide it under the carpet. Half of the responses are fairly predictable...
Sarika, good job to bring some sanity.

I think she did the right thing. In fact she should have mentioned the names on the 2 people live on the stage to teach them a lesson they would never forget.
The organizers should have appologized on stage.

Does anyone know who the 2 people were?
I am a reporter and would like to expose them.

Thanks

She is not telling the truth or she is trying to get worldwide attention. I was watching her speech on TV. It was an Independence Day Parade and if she had any respect towards her country and for all the Indians licing here what she should have done was
( even if the accusion is correct)
1. When she reached to the micro0phone she should have given her original speech.
2. She should have taken part in the events as the original plan.
3. And at last she should have filed a law suit against the organisers with alol details.
Instead of doing this she simply messed up our ( Indians living in America) names. She needs to appologise for this.
