I hear what you say, but you don't know the story. Perhaps the parents of the kid thought she was at a sleepover (which teens do every weekend by the way). And, maybe the parents of the other kids thought the same thing... My kid's 17 and he's doing that every weekend. This may be a wakeup call to all of us. How horribly sad!!!
THE CAR DIDN'T NEED TO SLEEP OVER TOO DID IT? this is a big duh.

She wasn't drinking. I know, she's a friend of mine as were 2 of the others in that car. They were driving maybe 5 miles from one house to the other. the 21 year old was my best friend. He wasn't drinking either, I know because I saw the toxicology letters myself. I see posts like hey you should lose your license for a year if you don't wear your seatbelt or whatever. just stop.

I can tell you now, the police said even if they were wearing their seatbelts it wouldn't have changed anything. And I'm sure some time in everyones lives you didn't wear your seatbelt. I don't know the people in the SUV, but I'm not blaming them. I don't blame anyone, what happened, happened. and you can't go back. She is taking it very rough, imagine losing your best friends in a crash you were a driver in. Just please leave them alone, and stop being such drama queens. Those were awesome kids. I'm only doing this because my friend said she doesn't like the stuff you all say. Just quit

I don't think anyone posting comments out here means to inflict pain or suffering on anyone.

I am interested in the cause of this crash understanding the final outcome might be a combination of factors (including weather) and events causing the two vehicles to crash.

A number of posters feel the timing of the crash indicate alcohol would normally be a factor. Also a very new very young/inexperianced driver at a very early hour in the rain may have contributed.

Conditions at the time of the crash would test the driving skills of MANY experianced drivers. However those conditions could have been present at 10 PM which questions if the drivers young age and law against her driving at that hour made any difference other than breaking the law.

I hope and pray the surviving driver recovers and turns the event into a positive in her life. Maybe doing some lecturing of youth on the risks of driving.

100% legal driving is very dangerous and death is a terminal condition.

Ok how about all of you keep your rude and cruel comments to yourselfs.
Yeah they shouldnt have been out that late.
Unless you know the WHOLE story I suggest you stop criticizing.
I was friends with one of the girls who DIED!
Ok the 16 year old driver was MY FRIENDS COUSIN!
She was called by my friend to come pick her up because she had been drinking. When she got there, the rest got into the car as well because the driver wouldn't let them drive themselves home. They passengers were pouring alcohol on the driver distracting her. It didn't help that the people in the other car were drunk as well.

Point is don't say anything when you have no clue what really happened. I knew one person,
my friend knew one,
and my other friend knew Travis.
So shut up and all of you get a life.
Find something better to do than say that those parents are bad parents.
Who's to say that the girl didn't sneak out.
I know her parents and i can tell you one things for sure is THEY ARE GREAT PARENTS!

Not only are you nuts, you're part of the problem. Quit making excuses for irresponsible behavior.
ok thats not nuts. If you don't know what really happened then shut up!
Nobody is making excuses for anyone.
Ok yeah they shouldn't have been out that late.
Yeah they shouldn't have been driving.
The DRIVER WASNT DRUNK!
If this is really the way things have come down to then what the hell!
I knew three people whether they were close to me or not I knew them.
How do you guys think it makes the people who knew them feel seeing all these hateful comments?
How would you people who makes those comments feel if your kid or sibling or friend or even neighbor died in that crash? would you still be blaming one person or the other?
Would you be saying that people should sue?
Answer one more thing..
Wouldn't you hate those who make rude and hateful comments about someone you knew who died that night if you were in their shoes.
You know what if your going to blame someone it better be in your own minds and not where people are hurt by it!
I really can't believe that after the loss of 6 people and one severely injured all you people can do is argue over who is at fault.
How about you try showing some sympathy for those who had loved ones lost that night!
Try it.
You might just make a difference in those families lives.

People die...it's part of life...sad they had to die this way and so young, but this crap happens every day. I think people are just making a big deal out of it because of the inexperienced minor driver.

This is how you fix 16 year olds from driving after hours, when they kill someone you bankrupt the parents and put them in prison and make sure the message gets sent to all the other parents out there.
Your an idiot. shes my bestfriend. No she was not found at fault. Seriously get a life.

Im upset that everybody is using this tragedy as a way to express their opinions about the flaws in the system. The truth is...these kids were just that.. kids. It's disgusting to use an event like this to express personal opinions. How about a lil compassion for the victims lost. There was a lack of judgement.. of course.. but I haven't read a single comment that shows respectful remorse for them. Everybody wants to sit on their pedestal and point fingers. Stop using this as a jump-off to preach. We all have vices and some pay for it in different ways than others. We all have horror stories but save it for your own blog. This is about them and their families. Miss you guys. We all do...

I am sorry for your loss; I'd hate to lose my brother under any circumstance. But your comments here are part of the problem, not the solution. Don't blame anyone? Sorry but car accidents usually don't "just happen." Especially not when one of the parties is drunk. He had a drinking problem, obviously, and for some reason people continue to think it's ok to drive drunk. As long as we keep looking the other way and making excuses, we'll never get drink drivers off the road.
Again, I am sorry that people had to die, but let's not dishonor the victims by ignoring the lessons their deaths should have taught us all.

In fairness to everyone the cause of this wreck may have had nothing to do with a drunk driver or a teen driver.

Road conditions, wildlife, and or other factors may have caused the wreck.

Maybe some day the teen driver can tell what occurred.

In otherwords, by saying road conditions or swerving to avoid hitting wildlife, you're really saying the driver's negligence caused the wreck by either driving too fast for road conditions or veering to keep from hitting a deer and choosing to hit the harder more dangerous object. It's recommended that if animal crosses your path, that you brake in a straight line rather than kill or injure people in a driver caused, out of control car crash.

If you believe that people should drive crazy negligent to avoid a deer, then maybe you should slow down or give up driving all together?
