If Providence and Rice Station church wants to support bootlegging and the murders/criminals produced by this behavior, VOTE WITH YOUR FEET. Jesus turned water into wine. Paul wrote, a little wine for the stomach sake. These churches are stuck in the 1800s. Jesus never met in a church building. He worshipped wherever he went...in a boat, on a mountain etc.. These churches must be paid by bootleggers who want more murders and illegal behavior. Boycott these archaic institutions.

Why you picking on a church? If you want to vote wet then that is your decision, but if some folks want to vote dry then that is their decision. Stop trying to bully someone into thinking a church is supporting a bootlegger.

Even if the county votes wet there will still be bootleggers. Don't be naive enough to think there won't be. Someone will fill the niche for Sundays and underage drinkers and after hours. The profits are too high for them not too. Quit trying to make people believe that voting wet is the answer to all of Estill county's problems. Vote wet or dry according to your own beliefs.

You actually believe that in a day and age where people drive all the way across town because they heard that gas was a penny cheaper, they will CONTINUE to head to some clandestine shack in the woods to purchase cheap swill at a 300% markup?! Yeah right. Bootleggers don't exist in wet areas for a reason. Besides, what makes you think that there will be no sales on Sunday? By default, it will be 7 days a week unless it is changed during the implementation process. In which case the next petition drive will be for Sunday sales. Your just grasping at straws friend.

Why is it taboo to talk about an injustice that someone feels that the church community has caused?

seems like the devil is getting nervous...... 80+ churches is ESTILL county, and a whole lot of good moral people that don`t drink. All it takes for an alcoholic to get started is one drink. Thats why alcoholic drinks are called spirits, people just don`t drink to be sociable, they want that buzz, and another drink after that buzz wares off, then, another, then guess what it gets harder to turn down and the desire is stronger and stronger, and then what do you have an alcoholic, who can`t make it home without a drink, then another drink, and couple more, then what do you have a drunk driver, oh no thier is a child on a bike, looks pretty blury, think they will swerve to miss the child oh no, they have hit someone else head on. the one who got this started is one who stood behind a pull pit and ministered GODS word in song and testimony, and knowed what his church stood for and even knew, how his pastor was delivered of drinking and drugs. GOD is not pleased with all that is going on, the enemie has used this young man without him realizing it,Satin him self would like to rage war with the churches, and beer believing drinkers, but what satin realizes is, GODS people have been praying against this act to be voted on, GOD have mercy and deliver, ESTILL COUNTY IS A BLESSED BY GOD COUNTY.

It looks like someone likes to spout Bible but never reads it or they would know it is SATAN not SATIN. I agree SATIN is evil because those sheets slide right off the bed.

I recommend that you take a look at the passages and explanations contained in this article. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself "went public," so to speak, performing his first public miracle by creating 150+ gallons of wine for a wedding party. And yes, wine--not grape juice (that is explained in the passages as well).

How dare you claim that God is angry with the consumption of something that His own son provided, and that His disciples encouraged the use of. The consumption of alcohol is not a problem, and never was in the Bible. Rather, the consumption TO EXCESS is a problem--but doing anything excessively is a problem, whether it is gluttony, drinking, etc.

The bootleggers don't. When children come to them, the bootleggers say yes.

Vote Wet. When it comes to serving children, shopkeepers JUST SAY NO. If you care for your children and want to eliminate the underage alcohol market in this county, VOTE WET.

Can't anyone see by now that most churches are not interested in the truth or abiding by the real bible? If they were then they would not be using fear tactics and using bible scriptures that speak against drunkeness in an attempt to all of a sudden make it out to mean that God forbids alcohol..

I think that it is less the churches themselves and more its people. Abraham in the Bible attempted to "help God out" by taking His word and twisting it. God said that Abraham would have a son, yet Abraham's wife was far too old so he decided to "help God out with the miracle" by sleeping with his maidservant--something very much NOT what God had planned for them.

How often are we guilty of doing the same thing--of thinking that God is simply not powerful enough to take care of things, and trying to help Him along? How often have we taken action in God's name when we are really just serving our own ends?

It is quite obvious to most that Jesus, the disciples, and many God-fearing heroes of the Bible drank actual legitimate alcohol. Yet for those who doubt, the best they could hope to confidently state is that it is debatable whether or not God wants us to consume. In such a case, what right do we have to wage such a war against a substance if we "aren't really sure" whether or not God is okay with it? Aren't there many, many other ways that We can do God's will?

get smart study the scriptures out and run your referances, the new wine is called new wine, because it was squeezed straight from the vine and served fresh, it was alcoholic, the BIBLE says a drunkard shall not enter the kingdom of GOD, and wow unto the ones who put strong drink to anothers mouth, what about cain and able their father was gotten drunk and took advantage of, why would anyone want to drink a drink just for the taste, it smells like vommit, .........i guess they can get through the taste for the buzz. huh.

Churches are just buildings of course Im talking about the people of those churches.. They have become consumed by not witnessing to others in the name of Jesus but have consumed themselves drunk with the desire to raise their own numbers in their own churches to raise the revenue acquired through tithing. Why else is there 88 churches in Estill County.. We know for a fact many churches came about not as a result of the overwhelming number of people seeking God, but because of disagreements within other churches that caused them to break off and form their own church. The people of these churches need to remember that its not for their own glory that they should be seeking through their bully pulpits, but the glory of God and allow God's will to be done.

I myself find it hypocritical of churches to take such a stand against this vote knowing that 50-60% of them (and I am low-balling) partake in drinking alcohol. They don't want it in their town but yet have it in their homes.

Besides that, does anyone know if the polls tomorrow will operate similar to normal voting days? I.E...same locations, times, etc...

Last I heard it was 6 to 6. And seriously, if you need help getting to the polls or finding your poll location, just send a message to any of the guys running the Make Estill County Wet facebook group. We'll do whatever we can to get you there on time.

And if you want a reminder to vote tomorrow, message them that as well, or subscribe for the vote reminder email on firethebootleggers.com and they will email you tomorrow to remind you to vote.

This is our last, best chance to really change Estill County for the better and stop the death spiral it has been in for decades. Our children are either moving away for greener pastures or dying young from abusing easily-obtained alcohol. Let's put a stop to both of these things at once by replacing the bootleggers with responsible, licensed store owners.

While we're at it now seems like a good time to end their take, take, take in regards to their tax exempt status. If they want to get in to politics let them pay taxes like everyone else.
