The news article in this weeks paper stated 50-60 new jobs coming to Estill County....but it also stated it was a job that consists of surface mining. One of the requirements to get one of these jobs include you MUST have surface mining experience. I have lived here all my life, I can not think of one person here that has this type of work history. I also think there are very few women even in the mining towns that have this type of experience. So tell me this why would our county officials see fit to bring a company to our county that is of no benefit whatsoever to our people. Granted it will bring jobs, for other people from the mining towns that will come into our county for these jobs and good for them, but what about our people that suffer because they have no jobs?

Maybe the people of Irvine need to work on improving themselves so they can compete for such jobs.

Jobs don't just magically land in your lap -- especially while you're complaining. Rather, you compete for a job and land it, usually, if you're the most qualified. If you've never crossed the county line and never had an interest in improving yourself, you're not going to get the better jobs.

Stop voting for environmentalist Democrats that have passed too many government regulations that make it nearly impossible to have factories in America.

When you can't produce something as simple as a baseball cap in America because of government regulations it is time to take action.

Just come to America anyway you can get here and we will give you food stamps and a check from our government as long as you vote for a Democrat.

Why work when you can stay home, get food stamps and a check?

You are wrong, Estill Co. already has crews working from there. Get up there and see if you can get a job, don' t just rely on what someone told you.

Won't last a year. The fking idiot in chief and his war on coal will see to that.I hope everyone who was dumb enough to vote for that muzzrat lose their foodstamps and starve to death. The war on coal is about to hit the fan,and since 90 percent of Ky's electric is powered by coal expect your electric bills to increase about 400 percent. No joke it's coming and all that voted for and support the socialist deserve to suffer.

Last time I checked besides the residents being able to get work, the County benefits from tax revenue generated from a company purely existing here. So it's not just about people getting work, Estill County taxes are paid.
