Do you remember when a Secret Service Agent's body was found around Tipton Ridge-Pitts-Furnace probably around the 1990s. Was his death ruled a suicide? Why would a healthy young man head up to this remote area and kill himself? Was he set up? Was he investigating someone here and put away?

Unusual Kentucky has a good write up on this case. The mystery continues after the agent dies.

I recall that this incident actually happened at the Mountain Springs Cemetery Rd.,off of Watson Ridge Rd. Other than that I don't know of his identity, or whatever came out of the investigation, except that it was ruled a suicide. Very strange though, why he would choose the area that he did to end his life.

Yes, this did happen at Mt. Springs. The tape where they found his body was still there. I never will believe it was suicide.

Thanks for the tip,I think I may have found something very unusual on there. There is a link in that article, that allows you to view who is buried in that cemtery.Maybe it's nothing, but I think if you view it, you will find the last ten or so names interesting. Makes you wonder if there is really more to the story, or if this was connected to another crime in Estill County. Then again, maybe its a coincidence. Regardles,I found it very odd.

The person the agent was meeting had to be from the area and give explicit directions. It must have been of an urgent nature for him to have driven from CA to KY while on vacation with his car full of camping equipment. Someone besides the person he was to meet, knows and kept silent. Fear? Why that cemetary, did thy have family buried there because they had to have been there before.

It was a very secluded area. His body wasn't found at the cemetery but beside the narrow lane that leads to the cemetery.

Am I the only one who has viewed the listing of people buried there? Please, someone else check this out, and tell me that the last page of the listings doesn't make you wonder.

I don't know of any other landmark they could've used but the cemetary. Nothing else out there.

Remember one of the posters said to be careful looking into this. That more than one person had died. I wonder how many have died and who?

Thank you Tippy. I thought I was talking to the wall or something. This was a partial list, wonder who else in that family might be buried there?

I am the caretaker of Mt. Springs Cemetery and have been for thirty years. Loretta's grandmother and grandfather are buried at Cob Hill Cemetery, the Willougbys at Mt. Springs are her great-great grandfather and grandmother.Loretta is buried in Powell Co. in the Rose Cemetery where her mothers people are buried. I remember well when the agent was found dead and know of no connection.
