I was wondering the same thing, my husband saw police and tape over there this morning around 9:30am. My parents then saw the scene with all the state troopers and police on their way over at 1:30pm today. I have not read or heard anything about it..

At 1:30 a.m., an Irvine police officer saw a four-door Nissan Altima approaching the intersection of Alton Parkway and Harvard Avenue. The vehicle was traveling more than 80 miles per hour and didn't stop for the red traffic light at the intersection, Lt. Henry Boggs said.

The officer tried to stop the car but lit sped eastbound on Alton Parkway through Culver Drive.

About 30 seconds later, another officer sitting at the intersection of Alton Parkway and East Yale Loop saw the car speed by, Boggs said. The vehicle went out of control, struck the curb and smashed into trees on the intersection's southeast corner, he said.

The driver whose name has not been released was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority paramedics, Boggs said. The coroner is conducting toxicology tests on the driver's body.

Police determined that the Nissan had been reported stolen at 2:15 a.m. to the Newport Beach Police Department. The owner told police that he was at Red Nightclub and that the car had been parked in a nearby lot.

I've been around that area alot today. From the collection of rumors going around, I heard that there were young-ish people in the car who were being chased by highway patrol. They somehow crashed really bad and there were 2 fatalities

i saw this this morning too. the police officers there said the man driving stole 263 packets of ketchup from the nearby carls jr and the cops were called on his vehicle. what a waste of ketchup, considering that all of the ketchup packets are now evidencce. what a shame.

His name was Robby Perez. He was a friend of mine in high school. I don't know too much more information than u guys do. Apparently he stole a car (God knows why, he was always the sweetest thing on earth and would normally never ever do anything like that), sped thru red lights, causing cops to chase him and he crashed the car. He was pronounced dead on the scene :( keep his family and friends in your prayers please

Robby was a sweet person. I knew him briefly because we dated a few years ago and it's a shame to see some people react and post hurtful comments. He was a lost soul for a while and I think there are some things that catch up to you. I hope the best for his family, he has a younger brother and sister that loved him so much and I know his parents' hearts are broken.

please be kind and realize that a lot of people who make mistakes have families and a kind heart as well.
