Why would they want a library? People from Ironwood do not know how to read!

It's not a matter of being able to read. We have a very weak economy in Ironwood and a very low tax base. There are many elderly people living here and they simply cannot afford an increase in their taxes. The City's plans included a bond referendum that would have doubled the cost of the project, and there simply isn't a big enough tax base to warrant the cost. Most people up here would love to expand our library. However, our roads and infrastructure are a much bigger priority at this time!
