Christmas Songs:

Angels We Have Heard On High

lyrics

Angels we have heard on high,
Singing sweetly through the night,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their brave delight.
Gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why these songs of happy cheer?
What great brightness did you see?
What glad tiding did you hear?
Gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord, the new-born King.
Gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria in excelsis Deo.

See him in a manger laid
Whom the angels praise above;
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
While we raise our hearts in love.
Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo.

I believe angels exist and they watch over us and protect us.

I remember growing up in Ironton ans walking downtown during Christmas. The store fronts were decorated for all to see as they passed by. How I miss the old Ironton.

That courthouse has such a big pretty lawn and no one even seems to care about decorating it much. I don't even want to hear that it takes too much money and how poor the city is blah blah blah.... They seem to find money for what they want to find money for and look at the city of Coal Grove's decorations.I'm sure people would either donate money or decorations if someone would take the initiative but the ordinary citizen isn't part of the "select" little group so they figure why bother someone else would just take credit anyway!!!!

At least they make an effort...even the garland that they have going across the streets with the bells and the decorations on the street lights are better than what we have....

I wish we could put up some Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.

"Somehow, not only for Christmas,
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others,
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing,
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing,
Returns to you glad."

John Greenleaf Whittier

Oh,,, they decorated the lawn at the court house... And they should have left it ALONE!!! I went to Wendy's last night and seen what a joke that was and it is beyond hideous! I looks like a 2 year old went sparingly scattering lights about! I would rather to have seen no lights!!!

Silver Bells

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks.
Dressed in holiday style
In the air
There's a feeling
of Christmas
Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on ev'ry street corner you'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas day

Strings of street lights
Even stop lights
Blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush
home with their treasures

Hear the snow crunch
See the kids bunch
This is Santa's big scene
And above all this bustle
You'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

Deck The Halls

Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
'Tis the season to be jolly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Don we now our gay apparel
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la.
Troll the ancient Yule-tide carol
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

See the blazing Yule before us.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Strike the harp and join the chorus.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Follow me in merry measure.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
While I tell of Yule-tide treasure.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Fast away the old year passes.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Hail the new year, lads and lasses
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Sing we joyous, all together.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Heedless of the wind and weather.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

How long "Deck the Halls" has been around is unknown. The words of "Deck the Halls" are from the 19th century and American. The repeated Fa la la la la la la la la used to be popular in medieval ballads. The music is from a old Welsh melody. In the 1700's, Mozart once used the melody in a piano and violin duet.

Grandma got run over by the mayor of hanging rock,
Leaving a strip joint Christmas Eve
You may say her tits were saggy,
And no one knew her hair was just a weave.

From home to home, and heart to heart,
from one place to another
The warmth and joy of Christmas,
brings us closer to each other.
