Dr. Basdow is providing Suboxone for Opiate addicted individuals who are in Drug and Alcohol counseling at Family Guidance Center... YES they are ADDICTS, HOPEFULLY trying to change their lives. MOST wont but give them the benifit of the doubt. When Suboxone runs its course and they find it is just as problematic as all the other replacements sommething else will take its place. Till then, if your at Dr. Basdows or in the area Lock up your stuff as most are not giving up their pills just yet!

For all those people out there that has the wrong idea about Suboxone,Dr.Basedow and Hand of Hope counseling center I would like to tell my story.Hopefully it could inspire someone else to make some changes in their life.
I was put on pain pills when I was in my early twenties for problems I was having with my back that could only be fixed with surgeries.I took the easy way out and got addicted. This addiction destroyed my life and everybody that was close to me.I had a good life,a husband, three beautiful children a nice home new cars anything you could possibly want.Pills slowly took away bit by bit everything I cared about and loved. My life wasnt my life any more.It was controlled by drugs.Thats all I could think about was where was I going to get that high from. One day after every thing else was gone I had enough. And by the grace of god there was Suboxone,dr.basedow and Hand of Hope counseling Center.
I got my life back.Over time people starting trusting me and enjoyed being around me again.I have been through hell and back but now I know it was for a reason.I have two years of sobriety a husband that has stood by me and I wonderful forgiving family that I love very very much.
So please dont misjudge the people you may see going into Dr.basedows office maybe they to are trying to get their life straightened up.And if you are hang in there it gets better.

Congratulations!!!!!!! I have seen some very good results with suboxone. I think it may eventually even straighten this town out and thank God we have the physicians who have the education and training to prescribe it. Good luck to you and your family!!! As far as you people who want to put these recovering addicts down I hope you never have to experience the hurt and heartache that the families and the addicts have to go through. You should go and take some classes yourself and maybe you could better understand what this disease is about. If you will not do this then keep your big mouth off here and live your miserable life in your little bubble where you think it will never happen to you or anyone that you care about.

Sorry, I don't get on this stupid forum often so I typed my response to your note in the wrong place!! Good luck again to you and don't pay any attention to the ignornant people in our community. Most of them do not even know what Suboxin is and don't know how to look it up to study it. They only know how to get on topix and start crap.

I like your post so many people forget that it's not just the under privileged "that don't go to great steps to hide their addiction" but the Doc that cracks your chest open to save your life that could be hiding a secret that could kill himself along with you to...

I never had a drinking problem until I had a problem with drinking, if that makes any sense. It took six years. I'm attending Celebrate Recovery, working within preset limits with money and amount. Gone from every day to once/twice a week. Real soon, I'll be moving on to the once in a while and then to no more. God and community involvement play an important role in my recovery. As I mentioned, it took six years to get this way, I figure it will take three to undo it. I'll get there.

Your story is inspiring, thank you for sharing and encouraging. Good luck with your recovery. I know it isn't an easy road no matter what the addiction is.

Thank you for that. I have a family member going through the program in another county and I hope his story will be like yours.God bless you. I also have other family members that want to get into the program but it's hard with no insurance or medicaid. Most dr.'s won't bill insurance or medicaid anyway so they have to pay cash and it isn't cheap. Medicaid does cover the suboxone, just not the dr. visit. It also covers the counseling.
