Something is wrong there they can't keep counselors more than a few months. Seems like they go through 'em like toilet paper.

What place isn't better than FGC? No treatment would be better.

Spectum is owned an operated by Robert L. Vinson who has a 20 + year history and knowledge base with regard to Alcohol and Drug treatment. Mr. Vinson started his agency after working MANY years with the 'other' agency who would turn client away if they did not have $$$ in hand. Mr. Vinson's motto from day one was 'No one will be turned away because of the inability to pay" Mr. Vinson works tirelessly LONG after the 9-5 er's have went home, taking calls directly to his home. Mr. Vinson CARES about EACH individual. Say what you will but Spectrum is here to HELP YOU. You want a piece of paper from the 'other' place stating 'your cured' and to satisfy other departments who could care less about your future but only want to lessen their case loads (you know who you are) go there...you want help and are truely focused on making a change call us at SPECTRUM.

Re: Higher Than A Kite (nice name to be commenting on the reputation of a AoD tx facility)It is difficult to find counselors who can keep up with the demands of AoD work, this field has a very high turn over rate.

Counselors are a dime a dozen. The industry is laughable and bordering on pseudo-scientific practices. Most professionals that are in the field genuinely want to help, but, unfortunately help rarely occurs. More often than not these attempts are unsuccessful due to misinformed professionals regarding treatment, obscene amounts of time enabling clients negative behavior, reluctance of the client to participate as well as the professionals reluctance to try new approaches. More often than not it is also a money game leading to fraudulent billing practices and suspect handling of court ordered attendees. Yes FGC treatment is a joke! Look at it's leadership. Laughable as well. A true testament to the burnout rates! On the other hand BV is a flunkie of fgc.
The Spectrum Advocate in the above article is slightly suspicious! I know no one who would speak of the man mentioned in such an ecclesiastical tone!
As for the accusation of turning people away is one that came from a time when area agencies were sending everyone who did not have a means to pay for services to fgc. Since fgc was not fiscally able to render services, a waiting list was created to demonstrate the need for funding. Unfortunately, some people who needed services may have felt that they were turned away when in fact the staff just was not available due to lack of funding! That is sort of the nature of the service industry! No money,no honey!
Just a statement for those who think that MH/AOD counseling/case management type of professions is rewarding. Intern for a few months or even visit a MH/AOD professional and get to know the individuals who work in the field and ask yourself: " Do I want to wind up like this person?"
It could save yourself a few precious years!

This statement is sooooo true. Not only Mr. Vinson, but Mrs. Vinson is a wonderful person. They think about other people before them self. My Mom works there, and they are the nicest people. They treat my Mom and Dad great. I love them for this. They have been very supportive morally for me as well. There is wonderful people running this place and they care. That's a very hard thing to find now a days. If I had a problem or a friend that needed help I would go or send them there.

As a recovering addict, I have known many people in this field for a long time. I do believe that Mr. Vinson has good intentions and his heart is in the right place. It is difficult to get quality counselor's and to retain them as well, due to the poor pay in the field. I'm not sure how they treat their staff, but my understanding is that this agency provides no real benefits, which is a shame. Health Care Reform, hopefully, will force them to provide some coverage for the well deserving staff.

Mr. Vinson is a great person but his wife is too involved and calls the shots and makes him look bad. Get her out of there and maybe the workers stand a chance.

Yes, this is Mr. Vinson and i don't have much to say about people who write things that don't have knowledge of what their saying. All agencies in this day and time need lots of stuff. Next time you write something please enter your name because i entered mine.
P.S. I am certainly not a flunkie from FGC.

Well this looks like a accident waiting to happen and I am gonna stand by and watch! As for entering names...Mr. Vinson from what I hear you like to threaten people, running to your lawyer everytime someone looks sideways at you, all the while talkin out both sides of your face. This could get UGLY for some people on here who may not want certain truths out to the public, truths about business, truths about private skeletons in the closet...think REAL hard before you push too much...
