The old timers use to tell us to stay away from the lake. They told us the mines used it for years. They always said to never swim, or eat anything from that lake. I know several owners that complain about the water being stagnant and having lots of bacteria in it during the summer.

It's just a party place for local kids and a great place for meth cooks.

Please don't listen to the idiots giving vague negative comments. Actually it's a fin place ti ride ATV's and fish. The lake is stocked with fish, so in reference to the poster wanting a swimming pool, he needs to go elsewhere! As for meth heads, that would be Iron Mountain Lake area, not Hanna. There is an occasional theft issue with people stealing stuff at unattended camps, but overall you can have fun out there.

How about the mines using it before it was turned into your little vacation place? What do you think the mines used it for? How about the stagnant shit flavored water during the summer? Was that all just imagined. And yes they do have to keep stocking the lake. Poor fish. Other then all that, you can ride a four wheeler there.

When there was an issue on the water quality at a lake located in Fredericktown, the dept. of natural resources came and took water samples and tested the levels. You can contact dept. of natural resources and check if they have a record on the water and fish quality.

Several years ago we considered buying a lot on Lake Hanna, it definitely looked like a fun place to be. We were turned off by the dusty roads. Every time someone drove down a road, the dust would cloud your vision. It's possible they've improved the roads since then.

Actually. The fish have been tested and are safe, they also have wells drilled for filling your water containers. I don't drink the water out of any lakes anywhere for that matter! As for the mined leftover sand.... They planted wheat in this mixture and it has grown all over the place. It's not for everyone, but there is some fun things to do... 4 lakes to fish, swimming area with soft sand (not drinkable), 600 acres of ATV riding. It can be fun!

This guy brings up a legitimate issue, in the dry part of the summer the dust is terrible! Lots on the main roads look miserable on a dry holiday weekend with a lot of traffic!!

actually i worked there for 2 years as the grounds keeper, and there is nothing wrong with the lake, the fishing is great if you know the right places, and there is nothing wrong with swimming or eating the fish out of the lake

The place can be fun if you like the partying. It is a place where the teens hang out. I would not recommend leaving a lot unattended for any length of time. The roads are dusty and it great for ATV riding. As being a local, I would be a visitor, not an owner.

I stay there almost all year round. It's for the most part peaceful. It could use some different management.

You are so correct!!! The current lazy staff out there LIE like dogs and say they will get the side roads graveled and fixed, but it never happens. Jim is a lying prick right to your face!! If he were gone it would be a HUGE improvement!!

Jim is a lazy bastard!! He's drunk most of the time, if his face gets any redder it'll explode. I also agree, if his lips are moving, he's lying. They only work on their beer drinkin buddies roads, and say to heck with every one else!!

We have a lake side lot and when the water is up our cabin is an island. You go to bed and wake up surrounded by water. We were told it's an act of GOD and there is nothing that can be done. We had to lift our cabin to keep the water out. Also we were told ou cannot live there but every time we go down there is a new mailbox at the entrance. Like a lot of people said, the rules only apply to the one's they dislike. The managements friends can do whatever they want all night but if you drive around after dark the "Rent-A-Cop" will pull you over and send you home! Also the lake dues went up this year and the Johnny's quality went down. Also there will never be any rocks added to the roads. They just push around the existing rocks to make them look new

Where is this Lake Hanna and can you ski on the lake? And, what happens to those dirt roads when it rains, unpassable?

I went to school with Lake Hanna.
She got picked on because of her hippie parents naming her that.

It's about 4 miles northeast of Ironton. 4 small no-wake fishing lakes, no skiing! Roads are dusty when dry, actually a good rain keeps the dust down! The management is shitty about maintaining the side roads, only take care of their butt buddies!! Where are you from Kevin?
