Pep Boys batteries suck

I don't know who makes Pep Boys batteries but I'll never recommend them to anybody. When I was visiting my folks for the holidays the battery in their Caravan died. It was a Pep B battery that was the 3rd one they got from them, they all lasted less than a year. The second one from early 2012 was replaced under warranty but they said the 3rd one had to be "pro-rated". I never understand that, should a battery last at least 3 years or not?

My brother just called me yesterday, the battery he bought just this last Oct failed to crank the engine. His favorite garage did a test and told him the battery had a bad cell. He goes to Pep Boys and they say the battery is good, we won't replace it! I have ordered all my family in that area to never buy a battery (or anything else) from them again.

Reply: I absolutely agree 100%. I purchased a new battery for Pep Boys in Pennsylvania 5 years ago. It lasted one year and died. I have since replaced 5 batteries (under warranty) in 5 years? In addition, they had the audacity to charge me an installation charge each time they had to replace. I own a 2002 S60 Volvo with low miles. I take very good care of this car! However, this is supposed to be a really dependable and reliable car! Meanwhile since I have had these Pep Boys Batteries, my car dies once a year in January! I have good wires and new alternator so that has been checked! It is PeP Boys bad batteries that has made my car.......undependable and unreliable to drive! It is always dying!!!????!!! I am furious!

Pep [Boys]. It's all in the name. Never let Boys do a Man's job.
