Windows 8 is the worse piece of crap that Microsoft has ever produced. Nobody is buying it. That is why they are coming out with 8.1, code name blue, this Fall. I want the Start button back. It was designed for mobile devices. Not desk and laptops.

I fully agree. Every "improvement" that Microsoft makes seems to make the infernal thing more user unfriendly. Last summer I bought a new HP desktop that had Windows 7, not 8, and it was the most infuriating thing I ever had to deal with. I finally got so disgusted with the damned thing that I took it out in the farm yard, drove my good old reliable John Deere tractor over the top of it to crush it, took my .30-06 Remington deer rifle and shot a couple of holes through the hard drive to destroy any data that might be of use to crooks, and tossed it in the trash bin. Then I went and bought a MAC. To hell with Microsoft.

You thought Win 7 was infuriating? Windows 7 was the improved and similar, going all the way back to Windows 95!

This thread is about Win 8 and almost everybody hates it!

And to the OP, it was VISTA, not visa.

Yes, you are right ... fat fingers on the keyboard.

But I bet you wouldn't put VISTA or WINDOWS 8 to drive your glass cockpit.
Imagine getting "The blue screan of death" on short final in bad weather during the ILS into ROC.

I think Windows 98 was the best of them all. It had the benefits of a simple gui while still being able to access DOS mode if needed/wanted

The older Windows fit my needs well and when we upgraded the computers at work to the newer Windows, we still can't get the bugs out. How can a business run with slow, crap computers? The IT software engineers can't even fix anything. All we get are patches and workarounds and reboots. "There try that" is all they can say. It worked beautifully with xp.
I use a Compaq Windows xp and an imac PowerPC G5 at home. The only problem is that Microsoft and Apple will end support for these systems eventually. I have started to use 3rd party software, but I don't like doing that.
I like to keep that factory feeling.
When support ends, you lose abilities (like Flashplayer) and it forces one to buy new. I have seen where new PC sales are falling and part of it is from the new wonder-phones and tablets.

Hell yeah windows 8 blows. I have never been a fan of Microsoft but I bought a new laptop with it installed. It is by far worse than anything else they have ever put out. Completely retarded and pointless. Could not switch to Ubuntu fast enough. Linux craps all over windows.

Hate Windows 8. Windows XP was MS's best OS ever. They should have just improved on that somehow.

Not only is W8 not user friendly but just try to uninstall it and install XP in it's place. You can't because of UEFI. UEFI makes W8 a boot sector virus. MS knows what it's doing by getting the hardware manufacturers to lock you in to Windows.

From Windows XP to Windows 7, I had always had a dual boot system with some version of Linux on my laptop. Thanks to UEFI, dual booting is difficult. It's doable but not for the squeamish to set up leaving FOSS for the "techies". Well played MS.

The funny thing is, most "home users" can get by just fine and much cheaper on Linux than they can with Windows. And...with a little effort, so can businesses.

Microsoft is on top not because they deliver a superior product(they don't) but because they have brand recognition and and strong financial backing. Same goes for Norton.

My Windows XP machine died, so I bought a new HP with Windows 8. What a pain in the ass to use. My printer didn't work with it. The screen kept freezing up. It took me an hour to figure out how to shut it down.

So I packed it up, returned it and bought a refurbished HP with windows 7. It took me all of 15 minutes to have it up and running.

How much does Bill Gates get paid by the NSA to encrypt certain coding into the Windows OS that automatically sends them an alert when one types in flagged search string?

Why do they hide the forking desk top on us? Why is the start menu all these stupid cube things instead of a mature adult list? Why is it so hard to open the desktop? They make you move the cursor around and around and around to try and play games to get you to open the forking desk top.

Nothing worked in VISTA but at least you knew where stuff was. They seem to HIDE everything in Windows 8.

Don't you just love how when you do get the desktop how all the hidden tool bars pop up when you don't want them or how it just shuffles between screens in the middle of doing something. Switch to a linux system. Microsoft sucks all around.

This has got to be the worst invention that Microsoft has ever
come up with-- to make even worse- it costs a fortune to have
the damn program removed-- wtf

My dad bought a nice used laptop on Craigslist over the winter, and when he called for support the (hard to understand) guy from India that they outsource jobs to said they can't help because he's not the original owner - Wtf?

My buddy has a nasty Linux system that our computer genius friend set up, and I'm thinking of going that way. I'm having constant problems with Windows 7 and I don't like 8 at all from what I've seen.
