Common Core is an Abysmal Failure for our children . A complete disservice to and for the future of our ranking in the international Education community .

If you have any doubt that the USA is under attack from within you needn't look any further than this teaching policy .

Our children are already dumbed down . This will ensure the END .

My son has common core homework. It looks like basic math homework to me. I don't see the problem.
If teachers and the union are against it..they don't shut up about it...then I am definitely for it.

It's the Cookie cutter education system with no over site . It is terrible .

I suggest you research it for yourself . It allows NO critical thinking and trains our children to become Workers of the Corporation nothing else .

Listen to this women . She has been Banned in main stream media for decades .

Teachers who have been teaching all along have no problem with it. It's the ones who should have never been in the classroom in the first place complaining. The common core has weed them out. Add in teacher accountability, now they are in jeopardy of losing their 18 weeks of paid vacation jobs. The Union being the union, instead helping get rid of these unqualified teachers, protects and advocates for them.

One of the problems with common core is the state mandated testing.
These test are published & graded by Pearson Publishing out of Florida.(with kick backs to Jeb Bush)
The company makes $15 to $30 profit PER TEST, and with the number of school students taking 5 to 7 tests a year, you can imagine how much of our local school dollars are being funneled to Florida.(And into Jeb Bush's campain funds.)

A republican has noticed this financial drain on our local economies and has decided to do something about it.

I hope he is successful.
But given the corruption down in Albany, I doubt it.

Common Core Opt out . You can legally opt out of testing for your children .

It's a JOKE education system . And by the lack of comments here it's obvious that people could care less in NY .

Common Core was sold easily to idiot governors by offering grant money with a commitment to using common core down the road.
It seems that in all 50 states, not a single governor was able to resist free money!

Once the grant money is gone, local taxpayers are on the hook to pay for:
1) State Mandated testing that are published and graded out of state which means our tax dollars (like our jobs) are all leaving the state at an alarming rate!

2) The common core curriculum does not have books, it is all computer based, which is copyrighted by Microsoft. And which will of course need to be certified for every individual computer in our school, and the program updated every year. More money leaving NY!

There are several reasons why people hate common core;
Data mining our children,
dumbing down the standards,
unneseccary testing that lasts days and results in lost time with test prep,
giving up local control of our school to the feds
... but of all the reasons, I would think draining the local economies of tax dollars would be the highest on the list for the people & politicians.
