1) Am I the only one who thinks the Now viewing this forum stats are padded?

2) Am I the only one who thinks Dustin is the result of a torrid romance between two, redheaded stepchillren?

Topix programmers see it like this:

#actual users (add 250+active)= show active viewers

Advertisers like to see a busy site with hundreds of unique IP addresses. They wouldn't spend their advertising budget on 4 active viewers. It is an old scam to make a website appear busy/popular. Lots of traffic translates to higher ad costs.

Dustin (and others) is autistic with multiple personalities, a common issue with autism.

If the folks who monitor Topix was worried about keeping this forum active for advertising, they would block any IP address from Newark.
That mental midget is killing this site!

If the advertisers knew how anti-white racist this forum was, they would pull their advertising money in a heartbeat. Look at who runs ads on here...Dell Computers, Tim Hortons, Red Wings baseball, Verizon wireless, York Heating and Cooling, just to name a few. These companies certainly wouldn't want to be associated to a forum that lets other demographics walk all over white consumers of their products/services. What is the percentage of the other demographics who buy furnaces and air conditioners? Hmmmmm....
I see Topix (from the perspective of the owners) as a site that is designed strictly for advertising, and to push eyes to it, they have an open forum - a traffic generator. I have never clicked on their ads, nor do I read them - like about 99% of users.

Topix probably promotes their site with rigged results. Sales dept can point to Rochester and tell advertisers they are reaching 400 potential buyers a minute (impressive numbers). Advertisers have no idea if this is accurate, because no metrics are gen'ed for them. They do see the counter and are, I'm sure, impressed.

To think that a forum for free exchange of ideas is their primary business is misleading (as I'm sure you all know). It's generating ad revenue - with a forum attached.

Alexa (a site advertisers use to gauge popularity):

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/topix.com

If you read down the page, it provides demographics, education etc., number of page views etc.

What the phoock is "jamb"? It takes up 3 of the top 5 searchs.

Speaking of anti-white, did you see the crew had yet another thread taken down yesterday because it had Biracial's true identity listed again?

<quoted text>Topix had the same problem on another site a couple of years ago when the mods were pulling any post and banning people that they(mods) didn't agree with. It cost Topix 10s of thousands of dollars of advertising dollars when the posters contacted the advertisers. They either fired or told the mods to back off. I hope the local mods wake up and start being fair to everyone and stop being one sided before they get the ax.(Like any company that sells a product to make money Topix will do what ever it takes to keep the money flowing.)
I agree. Follow the money (which is why this site exists). Use leverage to complain directly to the advertisers. If there traffic falls off, it impacts their revenue. Of course, they didn't count on the NEWARK, NY problem - which is beyond annoying. In fact, Dustin will reply to this thread with "But we need a Dairy Queen in Perinton".

They do not want to drive away users - it is the antithesis of their revenue model. Let them know why it is unusable. And ask them why other cities have an anything goes policy, while we suffer under the good ship lollypop moderator.

Maybe the advertisers only want black customers. ;)
You couldn't be more wrong. They don't advertise cigarettes, liquor, strip clubs, used cars, thrift stores, nail salons, hair straightening products, air fresheners or firearms.

They are going after the Caucasian demographic, who buy furnaces, central air, new cars, replacement windows, flatscreen TVs (that will eventually end up elsewhere) and golf clubs.

The last school in Newark was closed a couple of years ago. Generations of interbreeding have taken its toll.

That can't be right. It is showing the majority of Topix users are in schools. Alexa breaks it down nationally, wish they tracked it by forum (but I suppose all the pages on Topix are one big site to them). I put in some other sites, and it is telling.

Good point. They really aren't after that demographic. Is anybody?

I'm surprised Topix hasn't figured out how to do targeted ads (like Google does) based on the keyword content of the message (like Gmail). But they do pack a lot of ads into a small amount of screen real estate.

I wonder if advertisers get a decent ROI advertising here?
