It is both, but the smoke and mirrors is trying to pass the blame which some is shared with the executives, but when a Union Worker gets paid for not going to work and all the perks they get, that too was the fault of the executive for letting the Unions help to bankrupt the auto industry!

So unions raise the quality of goods and services huh? Why are American cars pieces of ****? It would seem that all the unions are doing for Police and Firefighters is to let them get all the overtime their last three years on the job so they can collect huge pensions! Why should people who work part-time get paid time off? You only work part-time for christ's sake!

You sound just like the lazy and whiney union members that helped close many manufacturing plants in the area. I suppose you would give up anything to keep your job. Guess what, you will keep pushing for more, and end up with nothing, because your employer will move elsewhere to get out from under the ungrateful union employees. Without that management, you are nothing!

Please do not forget the spending on the union and goverment officials, for travel, dinners, etc that that is funded by taxes and union dues. Once that union card is in hand, it is impossible to get the lazy and corrupt out of the union. It is lifelong protection and guaranteed employment. Where I worked, e used to joke that to fire a union employee they would have had to commit murder, and then it was not a given to terminate!
The number of people who were brought back on more than one last chance (at the price of honest, provable grievances being shredded in the deal) would make your head spin. Good workers do not need union protection in this day and age...only the weak and lazy benefit from the unions.

Back when the NY State Thruway was paid off and it was supposed to become a FREE Road, Then Governor Mario Cuomo stated he was not going to remove the Tolls because it would put too many people out of work, he was also supported by The Unions!

When you vote for these same people who are supported by the Unions, chances are you will not be represented well as the MONEY will and The Unions Spend Plenty Padding Re Election Campaigns!

So until people change the way they vote, this will continue to happen!

Unions Matter

Unions matter because they are the one institution that has dramatically improved the lives of the majority of the people and had the potential to radically transform both the economic and political landscape, making both more democratic and egalitarian.
