Three local companies. ESL Federal Credit Union, Sage Rutty & Co., Dixon Schwabl have been selected as Fortune Magazine's "Shit to Work" list.Ask anyone who works here at ESL. Its a revolving door with no future. Always hiring and always firing. Do not let that new building fool you. It sucks.

ESL has been horrible place to work for years. ESL is well known in the Rochester business community has being a place of last resort. ESL sucks the big one.

They are at every job fair. This in itself will tell you they have a problem. Great places to work have people waiting in line to get a job. No need to try to get workers at job fairs. Had a daughter who worked there. She could not deal with the goals and stress. Has since left and is now happy working at another financial institution.

A horrible place for your banking. The tellers change constantly, If you just want to change a large currency they always ask for your member number even though they know you from previous transactions. Always a long wait in line and only 2 tellers in service.

Forget about financial advice: we were snubbed twice and will NEVER go back.

Recommendations: Try another credit union. Unless location is your preference.

Pitiful service: Even more pitiful: I still bank there and HATE it. My own fault.

Management is arrogant and stifling. I left in July of 2012 after three years, because ESL is a place your career goes to die. It's run like a country club, and people are promoted without any regard for qualifications or experience. Horrible environment.

You can have all the great PR awards but word of mouth will kill you. Its the worst pace to bank and work. Ask anyone. When it was Eastman Svings and Loan it was great. It is no longer a great financial insitution. The turnover in tellers is always high. Never enough staff and Poor slow serice. You are always treated as a criminal/number not a customer until you show your ID. Lack of personal serice.

12 people in line and 2 tellers.

Walked out.

Employee morale is at an all time low, people bailing, not good. Promotions at corporate based on attractiveness and azz kissing. I don't know how they stay in business. I'm out as soon as I find something.

Owners Dividend is a joke. The CD rates at ESL are much lower than competition and Consumer loans like auto loans are much higher. They give you back the money they scam from you in the first place with non competitive rates. So you are really getting nothing. About 2005 I noticed quite a difference in service and attitude of ESL employees. Always trying to get me to do something. I do not like pushy workers and some were quite rude. I was told by one employee that they have to make goal. Is a Credit Union/Non Profit. Goals for what? I have since moved my accounts. They spent 60 million for a new building they did not need. RGH purchased the old HQ for 10 million. 50 million wasted. That would have made quite an owners dividend. I want great service, respect from employees, fast personal service and great rates. You get none of that from ESL. Canandaigua Bank still has that personal touch and they know you by name.

They will fall like Kodak. Run the same way. Upper management including the CEO are clueless about how to run a bank. Most get promotions by kissing ass and friends. You can be the hardest worker and get no place at ESL. I decided to leave. Best move for me. Now I am Happy. For sure not employee and customer friendly.

My sister worked for these folks. Said it was the worst place she had ever worked. Now she has a great job at Paychex. Said there was lots of backstabbing and high turnover. She also said she had lots of stress. She only stayed 7 months. Also said no chance to get ahead.

Its said that Walter R was fired. How bad can it get? Feidler is nuts. You never know who is going to get fired next. No way to run a business. He is a mad man.

That's why I am interviewing. Insane decisions constantly. I'm sure not being held there by the puny salary. I go home depressed and disgusted nightly. The office politics are out of control. I'm really surprised they don't get slammed with more sexual harassment and hostile workplace suits.

I use to work there. Its as bad a they say. You will have no future here. Like a country club. Total disconnect between management and the operation. Large revolving door of employees including management. No job is safe. Offices, computers and phones are bugged. You are always being watched. Open your mouth and you will be gone. Customer service has gone from 10 to 3.

It all starts at the top. Dave Feidler and Antonio Perez are one in the same. They are leaders that should have never been put in charge. Poor Managers only out for themselves. Both answer to no one. On ego trips.

Waited in line at the Chili Ave branch drive up 25 minutes one day. Inside was worse. The service level has dropped big time. I am now looking for a new bank. I do not have time to screw around after work waiting in line. They have a few tellers on Friday. They need more staff. The staff they have are incompetent.
