At 80, Carmen Basilio struggles to recall his 1950s boxing feats

I was just a kid when Carmen fought Gene Fullmer, we cried when he lost that match. My dad was a boxer & close friends w/ the trainer, Russ Mangicaro. Anyone have news of Russ?

Me and my dad went to see him fight when I was a kid. My dad hated him and wanted the other fighter to win, so while they were fighting my dad pulled a few raw eggs out of his pocket and shot them at him.
Anyone remember the fight when he had egg yolk all running down his face??

When i was a small kid my Dad took me down to the Syracuse War Memorial to see him fight. I think the guy was Chuck Davies. Davies was a boxer who would hit and run. What Carman did was tie him up and pound away at his left side until around abour round 7, Davies dide looked like raw beef steak. Out come round eight, Catrman throws a right to the side and Daves drops his guard. Next thing Davies is on his ass, Out cold from a beautiful left hook. A thing of beauty. This was before Basilio became Welter Weight Champion.
My dream is to some day meet the man.

Hello, just a quick thing, Uncle Carmen is having a very difficult time remembering things, he barely remembers me and I'm his neice. I dont see him that often but if it has been a dream of yours, I am sure i could work something out so that you could atleast shake his hand.
