SUMMERVILLE, S.C. A New York-based company that makes firearms, ammunition and tactical equipment is relocating its headquarters in Dorchester County, South Carolina officials announced Monday.

The state Department of Commerce said that the $2.7 million investment by Rochester, N.Y.-based American Tactical Imports would mean more than 100 new jobs for the Summerville area.

At its new South Carolina facilities, ATI is also setting up a distribution center and a limited firearm assembly. The company is also moving its customer service operations and sales office to the Summerville site, officials said.

"This move to South Carolina will help ensure a solid foundation for our company," Tony DiChario, president and founder of American Tactical Imports, said in a news release. "The people of South Carolina have welcomed ATI with open arms and we are excited about making our new corporate home there."

According to its website, ATI makes a variety of products, including handguns, shotguns, rifles, vests and handcuffs.

Sounds like a very smart move. More to follow.

Just one of many companies that have fled NYS and many more are going to follow. What is Albany going to do to make up for all of the taxes they are going to lose? Hang on because the middle class working people will get nailed with a big tax hike to make up the difference.

Someone has to pay for our high priced State Troopers. Plus, we have thousands of welfare recipients that might take their business to other states.

The company says NYS law (and the SAFE Act) make staying here impossible. Says he is going to a more "gun and freedom friendly" state.

Sounds like there is no turning this decision around.

High taxes, high tolls on the Thruway, 40 cents per gallon more for gas than other states because its all taxed and high real estate taxes. No tax breaks for companies. New York is the Welfare State No jobs just people living off the system. Businesses not welcome. Just the lazy and uneducated.

My health insurance cost just jumped over 18%, NY makes all the costs of doing business too high. The "Affordable" Care Act did not help at all either. Liberal policies force businesses to outsource our jobs to other states, or worse, to other countries.

Only 18%? You got off easy brother. Most people that checked the ACA website found out that their costs would be more than tripled with less coverage and much higher copays. Isn't socialism great?

Shoot, I just noticed the copays and deductibles jumped up too. So I pay more for less coverage. Fck socialism. I feel bad for the part timers that pay double what I pay.

After progressives ruin one state they move to another, because even they dont like higher taxes. Stay where youn are from like California, New York and Vermont. Keep voting for your favorite Governor, loosers.
