Motorcyclist dies after rear-ending car; dog in car killed

A 41-year-old motorcyclist died after rear-ending a station wagon on I-26 at a "high rate of speed," said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts today.

If these idiots want to kill themselves that's fine but they should stay off of public highways so they don't hurt innocent people.

Well, at least we know now why the deputies were handling it rather than the State Troopers. It sounds like this fool ran straight up her tailgate...what a sad situation, for his family AND that poor woman. Running from the cops cost him his life, and killed her canine friend.

Just remember that not all bikers are irresponsible! We are very respectful people who have families and do alot to help other families who may be in need, we just happen to like to ride motorcycles. Granted, there are those out there that do not obey the law and are dangerous, but please don't sterotype all bikers to be the same! But wheather you drive a car or ride a motorcycle, you should always look out for the other drivers!

i'm pretty sure she was referring to idiots, not to motorcyclists. idiots can drive cars, tractor-trailers, motorcycles and, in the case of a few parking meter cops in downtown Columbia, they can even ride Segways.

I am well aware of that. Thank you. My husband and I own a Harley and have been riding for several years.

The deputies are handling this because the idiot was being pursued by a Trooper. No other reason.

Glad you understood what I meant. Clearly the guy was an idiot going that fast regardless of the mode of transportation and not stopping when L.E. started pursuing.

I was just trying to comment about the typical sterotype of motorcyclist. I think you can relate since you ride. My husband and I have had our Harley's for the past 10 years and still get "the look" from time to time. But I completely agree that an idiot can drive anything, I just think that you still have to look out for other people on the road no matter what they're driving.
