$17,000 jobs in retail are growing in EP. What a farce. It is the same old junk. This is the most flawed piece of nonsense. FIRST off there has to be a demand for retail/consumer products and most important, there has to be the $$$ people are willing to spend on extra stuff during the most severe recession since 1930's. Please, people are too busy being taken to the cleaners with utilities, gas, mortgage, vehicle notes, etc. I guess , these people haven't read the latest UNEMPLOYMENT numbers that were just released. Someone's smoking something.

The headline here is misleading. It says right in the article two superintendents do not agree with the comptroller's projections.

Also, a similar article about Fort Bliss expansion ran a year ago and there are still HUNDREDS of teachers looking for work in El Paso. So even if demand goes up, it will probably not even meet the excess teachers in the area. Not a great outlook for teaching opportunities that the article makes it seem, if you ask me.

Right, but doing with a lot more money now. Teacher make what $50k a year, that is not worth it. If you haave at least a 4-year degree, then do something with it worth money, not the politics of teaching.

So you are claiming that teaching is not a respectful career? Think about the recession, it's one of the safest careers. I think you have to do what makes you happy and apparently teaching did not help you at all. I also think politics is everywhere you go, it's not what you know, its who you know. My goal is to teach in a university and its pretty close.

Just imagine if all those free loading mexicans were to stay home in their precious mejico for an education instead of coming here to free load off the generous Americans!

Not only would we not have to pay all that extra money in taxes for those free loaders, the school systems would eventually have to let go of a lot of teachers (saving us even more money). Because we wouldn't have to support all of those ungreatful juarez hoodlums.

I may only make $54,000 but, I really like the summer to spend with my own children. We have friends that have jobs in the corporate world and they work like dogs.
There are trade offs in every profession. If you feel this way, perhaps it is a good thing that you left teaching.
I can do. However, I like what I am doing.

Wow, people love to use the word "joto", what is wrong with these idiots? Is this the best they got? Are they even educated? Less illegals = less taxes, this is a lay comment.

No, no, lay means a person with no experience, not what happened with your mother and a donkey in Juarez and you were born. Grow up a little. Typical simpleton.

Actually I am mexican and white. Ok, that was non-sense and this type of language shouldn't be used. If you want to debate, let's keep it clean and keep debating.
