Tyngsborough's Superintendent of Schools Darrell Lockwood, who makes $142k annually, is a finalist for the superintendent of the Masconomet Regional Schools at a salary of $175k.

Mr. Lockwood said he is interested in working in a regional school district.

Didn't Tyngsborough just hire Mr. Lockwood? Did he disclose during the search process that he only planned a short stay in Tyngsborough because he planned on move to greener ($$$$) pastures?

What is going on in Tyngsborough?

I hope to God he goes. Thank God they were not able to get any input from Goffstown's school system. If they did, he'd be out of luck.

He is so out of touch with reality, but worse, he doesn't care about the kids. He's a pompous ass and when you go to him with a real issue to get help for your child, he only talks money and how "your" parenting is the reason for your child's disability.

The majority of the staff and administration under him are also holding their breath hoping he will go. Anyone would be better than Dr. Lockwood.

To echo and all of the rest of you Tyngsboro whiners.
Open your eyes and ears. Lockwood mentioned how he is looking forward to working in school district that has a forward looking curriculum. Not to mention a 25% pay increase.

I wouldn’t blame him one bit for leaving. He has been here long enough to see that this town does nothing looking forward and everything ass backwards.

It was like this before he started. He used it as a stepping stone because he knew his days were numbered in Goffstown.

I believe there are now 10 open superintendent positions open in Massachusetts. Who in their right mind will want to come here?

I find that I keep repeating myself.
I repeat, Wake up all of you tyngsboro whiners!
None of you want to think the problem is ever yours.

Anybody who tries to say what you need to hear rather than
what you want to hear gets ripped to shreds.
He's a pompous ass, he is out of touch with reality.
Give me a break.

Enough with the excuses.
Nothing will ever change unless changes are made.
This is exactly why Tyngsboro is in the shape that it is in.

Like I said, the problem is you, not Mr. Lockwood.
Dropping off the second half of the name you went under for the
past year is fooling anybody. You have been constantly whining about the parking fees, sports fees, bus fees, forever in this thread.

I don't agree with those fees either. But complaining isn't going
to change anything. Somebody who is arrogant and doesn't care about what the same town chronies who got the school system in this mess thinks, is what Tyngsboro needs.

I dont regret for one minute moving out of Tyngsboro 12 years ago. I still follow what goes on there because I do have a neice and nephew who unfortunately live there.

One more thing.
If Lockwood is so out of touch with reality,
why is he in contention for this job with the
Superintendent from the Harvard school system?

The fees were here before Dr. Lockwood. That is NOT my issue. It is much more serious. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Have any of you ever attended a school committee meeting and spoken up? Do you realize that Dr. Lockwood reports to the school committee and they are responsible for the district's problems, not him. Policies and fees are set by the school committee, not the superintendent. It's only going to get worst, can't blame him for jumping ship while it's going down. As for Manning chasing girls, it's the other way around and he handles it kindly and professionally.

The next superintendent needs to be hired from within! Someone like Ciampa will committ himself to the town! Enough with these pretentious doctor's (and I use that term very lightly.) Lackwood is all theory and no practice. This was just a stepping stone. I fault the search and school committees for that pick. Joke!

I have attended meetings and spoken to members of the school committee. I was threatened by Dr. Lockwood to stop communicating with the school committee. I have it in writing.

Tyngsboro is out of compliance in so many things. They really need to "clean house" but I can't imagine they can afford to do that. How about sharing a superintendent with another school system? We have such a small district, only 520 in the HS. Share the superintendent, social worker, behavior specialist, etc with another small town. Doesn't that make sense?

I also want to comment on Steve Manning. Nothing but professional always and forum is the first time I heard anything negative about him.

He's for the kids and a good role model.

You morons from Tyngsboro keep making my point.

Ciampa! Give me a break!! Do you really think he is the solution?
Just what kind of sweeping changes to do you really think
he's going to make!

If you think he is the answer, the Joke is on you!

Officer Manning is very professional in all his dealings...even under the most difficult circumstances. He gets what being a police officer is all about.

Sharing resources isn't a bad idea, but realize if you think your kids aren't getting the services they need, it will be even worse in a shared situation. A lot of these problems can be attributed to the fact that Tyngsborough no longer has enough tax dollars to support a top notch school district. Residents want all the services offered in a "Westford" type district, without the money to support it.

Dr. Lockwood lives in Goffstown now. He was the Superintendent here prior to fleeing the New Hampshire etirement system for greener pastures in Massachusetts. I never had to deal with him; however, his reputation is nothing I would be proud to have following me around. His replacement here in Goffstown was mentored by him personally. If she is an example of his leadership and level of caring for children he is as sorry a superintendent as we have here today in Goffsotwn. It seems as if the district here is run by Lockwood in concurrence with his replacement and the long-term Chairman of our school board. They have all been seen togather seemingly conferencing on school matters. Last night, I sat within 50' of him at a public meeting and he reminds me of the typical middle management blowhard spouter of gibberish. Be glad he is departing Tyngsborough.
