Vortex Gifts closing its doors

A popular gift store in downtown Iowa City is closing. Vortex Gifts, 211 E. Washington St., will close for the final time because soon there will be nothing left on the shelves, co-owner Jonathan Sabin said Wednesday.

To Whom It May Concern:

The Vortex is a vital shop in the downtown Iowa City area and during this current economy slump it would be beneficial to Iowa City to help this store out. The quality that is displayed at the Vortex is the best in Iowa. I hope this decision can be reversed and support can be generated. The malls are already in trouble and the lack of quality in the downtown area will deter other good businesses. I may not always buy but I always stop in at the Vortex when I am in Iowa City.
