Mitterrand had two households and two families, and when a journalist dared ask him about his illegitimate daughter, Mitterrand replied: "Et alors?" - "So what?"

Why don't the French care? Because cheating on your spouse doesn't mean you're going to cheat on your country.

There you lovely dems go again..You blame Monica for the mess slick Willie got himself into ("Bill was getting it from a 20 something that transferred to the White House to get into his knickers.") Never mind it takes two to tango in the Oval Office. Never mind he was the President of the United States..never mind he was married..never mind he should have taken the moral high ground and not had an affair. He could have said NO at any time! And I loved how you COMPLETELY ignored my statement about the fact HE LIED UNDER OATH!!! IT WASN'T JUST ABOUT SEX!!!!...HE BROKE THE LAWS OF THIS COUNTRY BY LYING UNDER OATH! Just like the mayor of Detroit also.. At least Mr. Villet had the intestinal fortitude to pull out and not try to whitewash it.... even though it was only when he was caught. At least he didn't pull the victim card. He will need the time to try to fix this mess he has created.

Give it up pal, the GOP is full of these righteous jerks that hug Falwell on Sunday and can't keep their zipper up the rest of the week. The funny part is that everyone knew Bill was getting some action on the side, no one knew the GOP had their closet pedophile, Foley, and their closet bathroom queen, Craig. Bill was getting it from a 20 something that transferred to the White House to get into his knickers. Foley was preying on young interns and Craig is, well Craig is Craig. Anyone else you West MI GOP types want to out today, lets hear it, any other fornicating adulterers on your ticket.

I would have guessed him to be older than 39

Anyways, I'm still surprised at all the people on here who are all upset and appalled over someone in the public eye who had an affair; I'm not going to minimize someone's ability to do a job over an extramarital affair

He had a lot going for him. Lawyer, military man.Business owner. I looked at his website. At least he didn't have anything about "family values" on it. I give him credit for pulling out, though. He will need to really focus on his personal life right now. I do feel bad for his wife and kids...

I doubt he will suffer business-wise over something like this; I personally would not boycott someone over this trivial of a thing; His qualifications in so many other areas FAR outweigh an affair; JMO, couldn't care less if you wish to disagree

You give him credit for "pulling out" Heck if he would have done that chances and real good his misteress would not be having his love child.

He would still be in the race if he would have "pulled out" of his mistress. What a scum bag.

I'm not going to support any married person's affairs, but I guess I fail to see what it has to do with him doing his job. I hate to see someone lose their career over something like this- I mean it's bad, but it's not like he committed a felony.

I highly doubt he's the only candidate out there who's had an affair. We only need to look at the Kent County Sheriff race to know who else has had an affair.

If a person can lie and cheat on their spouse, you don't think they will lie and cheat on the job? I've seen a couple of people on the job who are having an affair and they are so preoccupied in getting to their next tryst their job suffers for it. They are on the phone excessively with their spouse and then with their girl/boyfriend. It takes away from their ability to do the job. Everyone suffers from their lack of judgement.

The BIBLE says...."and be SURE your sin will find you out."

So sad for his wife and family,....SHAME on you Ryan! Certainly NO ONE is beyond such a crime against the sanctity of the family, but that does not make it any less awful!
