Because your ISP (internet service provider)is routed through Grand Rapids at this moment.'topix' has no idea where you live.
Your location can even change depending on how busy lines are.
I live in Holland but mine says Hopkins.
So do I...Hopkins must be our sister city! LOL!

Ok.. Here is another little tid-bit to consider, how did the meat of 200# get by USDA Inspection, was it boot-legged out of a unsanitary processing plant, or even worse someones garage>? These are things that we should as AMERICANS be concerned "really CONCERNED" about. All too often we take many things of everyday life for granted.
If you buy your meat from a reputable grocery store you should be OK. Just don't buy it off the back of the pick-up that's going around to all our neighborhoods.

Were the drivers of middle-eastern descent? Doesn't make sense at all. Since when did food suppliers deliver food in a rental truck? I remember hearing reports a while back about terrorists possibly getting to our food source. Could this have been an attempt?
Sounds like a good possibilty Lori

You betcha I want the police to list the stores publicly that this was going to. It is getting crazy out there and it is public record. I want to know what stores I personally will put out of business for trying to hurt their consumers for a cheap buck

Contrary to what the guy tells ya, New York Strip for $74 a pound is NOT a good deal.

You need to turn off FOX news immediately, and buy some duct tape and saran wrap for your fears.

And if there's any left over, here's a suggestion for it.

Not fearful at all, just throwing the possibility out there. Remember complacency? If you don't know the meaning, look it up. I'm sure we all had it on 9/10/01

It's common knowledge, in fact, it's taught at GRCC's food classes that these trucks that drop food for Chinese eateries do this. I-94/96 is constantly trolled for this. No refer system on the truck, just trying to beat the clock. Enjoy your buffet, you fat idiots.

It is only a matter of public record if the public was in danger. But as this shipment was caught, the public will probably never know. You could file under FOIA, but then a lot of the report would be blacked out, and you still probably wouldn't be told. I am sure that the Health Department and Agriculture Department has been notified, and the stores it was headed to visited. There really is nothing to be served by trying to put the stores out of business at this point, the best course of action is to let our government do it.

As for moving food in a small rental, it happens alot. Many small ethnic grocers do this. Also it isn't uncommon for large amounts of ground meat to be used to conceal drugs. Most police departments don't want to risk buying the load if no drugs are found.
I once found a load like that. Also I found a rental dropping an order of meat off behind a restaurant..it sat for about 2 hours unsecured with cats scratching at the boxes. The owners were upset over being busted!!(gotta love those de-regulating, get government out of our lives republicans !).

Shortly after reading this story I went to Family Fare to return bottles. Upon leaving, what did I see? An old white rental truck being unloaded in front of the store, at 11pm. The words on the side were gone but I could clearly read them from where they used to be. It was an old Ryder truck. The front side of the truck said Family Fare. Inside the store there was a new sign that said "Independent Food Supplier" or something of the sort. I stood there for a few minutes looking at the truck when the driver came out of the store, noticed me, shut the unloading doors and drove off.

I think the truck that was confiscated in Ionia today had something to do with the truck I saw and was delivering to Spartan Stores. I think there are more of them. Beware!

don't fear your local reputable grocery store, just stay the hell away from shady general tso. I've seen un-refridgerated loads of eel sit behind local buffets for hours on end. honestly. specifics would equal legalities, so i will not mention the buffet.
