This is just awful. Such a horrible mistake. I'm a mom and i know accidents can happen.

I hope these babies survive. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families

I'm a parent, too, and this was not a "mistake". This is clear negligence. When my kids were that age I wouldn't even take a shower without keeping them in the bathroom with me.

If you're on the second story a responsible person would either teach them not to sit by the window or have a guard up to prevent a fall.

It is astounding what kids that age can get themselves into in the span of time it takes to go to the bathroom. A parent should know that and take precautions, if they care.

Good for the neighbors looking out. The mother or whoever was responsible for them is on his/her own.

I can understand how this could be a mistake. But, it is true that kids run before you have a chance to keep up with them too. But 2 kids. Thats a little odd. Somehow I feel this parent wasn't present when the kids were near the window. Watching what your children do is very important. I hope the kids are going to be ok.

This was pure neglect and there better be charges against this "mother". I don't care what the circumstances were or, what excuse she has for not watching her children, there was no good reason or excuse for this to happen!
It was not a "mistake" or an "accident". Because care wasn't taken, the "mother" might as well have pushed them out the window! It's the same thing as far as I'm concerned.

If I had little kids like that and no screens, I would have those windows shut and locked at all times. Even screens can't stop the weight of a child if they push hard enough. My sympathy is with those kids, and the grand parents and other siblings.

If there was a father, he should have seen to it those windows were safe for his children. No excuses!! NONE!!!

I can see how this can happen when parents don't take precautions , I have neighbors across the street from me who let their 2& 3 year old run all over the street and it's on a very dangerous corner, especially this time of year with kids out of school. I don't think people who are being called "PARENTS" are parents. They don't anticipate what can happen, no wonder children get hurt, killed and kidnapped. I get very upset watching young chilren being given TOOO MUCH freedom to raise themselves. I fear everyday one of these children will be killed by a car and then the driver is left leaglly responsible.

I think the landlord is partly to blame, too. He knew the situation and left the tenants with the responsibility. He is the owner and should have done the job himself instead of blowing it off.

The landlord was wrong, but the parents were ignorant. How does a parent not make sure that the home is child safe. Why leave the life of your child in the hands of a scumbag landlord, when thier safety is your job.

turdshooter..That reminds me of a joke I heard about a manure salesman with a mouth full of inventory.
No, it never occured to me that the father might be working. That is not the issue here! He doesn't work 24 hours a day so there had to be sometime when he was home. If there is a father of course. Father, mother, landlord, who cares..they were all neglectful of those little babies!! Jane

Donna,
I know it isn't your responsibility but, if I were in your shoes..I would call the police everytime I saw those little ones out there in the street.
I know how it must scare you and it's not fair that the "parents" do that to you or the children and...the person who might hit them and be scarred for life! People aren't going to wake up and do things the way they should be done, I finally got that through my head. There will always be people like that but we have to remember, we can't save the world. Still, we can save the kids one at a time and call the cops! You don't have to tell them who you are. Jane

There were 2 kids that ran in front of my car on a residential street one time, and It scared me. They didn't even look to see if I was there or not. I thought I was going to hit them. I looked around and no parents were present. I told the kids to look both ways before crossing the street. But Gee they were only 2 to 4 years old... I couldn't believe it. Where is the parents? They are responsible for what their kids are doing. So I do blame parents when somethining like this happens.
