Teen arrested for having drugs at courthouse

An Ionia teenager was arrested on drug charges while at the Ionia County Courthouse.

The most important thing to Ionia is to keep that money rolling in. If they dont charge and convict him they wont get the money they need. Secondly now that they have sucessfully labeled him as an offender the next time they stop him they can ask him have you ever been convicted of a crime and then search him again. He is now labeled and a marked and will be forever legally horaced. Good job to the Police. I always love to hear the police say We are not worried about personal use. What a sick convicting society, and I do want to leave.

Now days the police can use any tactic they want to invade your space pretty much. They can even say someone left "an annonymous tip" that you have someone held captive at your home and then they obtain a search warrant merely on that "tip". Then they find no person, but they find drugs. That "tip" might have been an officer phoning in to begin with just to clear a path to the search warrant. We are slowly losing any rights we have, and it's a shame that police officers can lie to you legally, but you can't lie to them legally. They need to strengthen the laws against that sort of tactic, because it is getting to be more popular with them if they want to search someone's home but dont have probable cause. Plus with the corruption in the police depts, you not only have to worry about them getting into your home, you have to worry about them shooting you saying you had a weapon, or they may plant drugs because they are mad they didnt find what they thought they would. It's not the same honesty anymore by criminals and police both.

Not sure where comment #12 came from, it has nothing to do with the article. The police can't get a search warrant and kick in your door based on a "tip". Needs to be much more than that. Back to the article.

Doesn't mention anything about this being Tyler's second time getting caught with dope does it? Huh? Clearly he screwed up, and, laughed about it - go figure. It'll probably never happen again anywhere for a long time. Go Tyler......

Im so sick & tired of people saying awww they are just kids! Well, laws are laws & they are there for a reason. You break them, you pay the price. Teens go out & kill someone, maybe we should give them a break for that too. After all, they are just kids. Have you ever heard..."This is your brains on drugs?". Ionia cops are notorious for invading personal space without enough probable cause- BUT this kid was just asking for it. It takes a real moron to bring drugs into a courthouse, regardless of the intent to either use or sell. I don't blame the parents- I don't know them- but it does make you wonder how he was brought up. Either way, I hope the kid learns his lesson and grows up to follow the rules.
