The comments from Tina are enough, show some respect. John was a very good man and his life taken way to soon. Being rude and running mouths are just a way for you to get a littlle bullying in. Enjoy then move on and let this family deal with the untimely death.

To all of you who have lost, please take care and love each other. Remember the good and don't let this blog get to you. Some people are too shallow to feel anothers pain. For that I am sorry. Just think back to the fun times because that is what John would have wanted.

My deepest sympathy to all those involed in this tragic time.
To all of those who think 67 is old wake-up! Look at how old you have to be to get full social security benefits in the future. Me personaly I have to be 75. How do you expect me to get to work peddle a bike or walk 10 miles one way?
If I have trouble seeing hey I can file for disability and stay home. If not I will be on the road so you had better not be texting to whomever putting on makeup or typing in your laptop before YOU cause an accident.
Also my grandfathers both died at 79 one with cancer and one with heart problems. My grandmother willing gave up her driving privleges when she couldn't feel her feet due to diabetes the other one is still "buzzing" all over at 74 years. The years of experience served them well the four have had 4 total accidents only one was at fault and he was36 at the time.

Again my deepest sympathy to the families involved.

It should be the financial responsibility of the driver to provide a Physician's Notice of unimpaired ability to operate a vehicle safely; keep yer keys on until the time when this is no longer possible, no driver health test from State necessary. Same as you paying for your own insurance...
One also should be able to HEAR emergency sirens, or someone's horn (& from which direction), as that could also save a life; maybe to warn YOU about a tire or smoke/fire, or that you left your monocle on the trunk, etc...
what are you trying to say that he was not able to drive becaause of his sight he had great vision and hearing come on people age had nothing to do with what happened he just made a misstake like all people do of all ages so please stop with the age. oh by the way i should a little about him he ia my uncle

Wow i cant believe the things im reading about a very tragic sitution. My heart goes out to the family who lost a loved one,and my heart goes out to the driver of the Dodge. As a matter of fact I know the driver of the Dodge Truck, and I know that this will effect him for a life time,he also has a heart of gold, and is a very caring person. This was an accident,so people really need to have a heart, and put the blame on no one.The families are going through enough.John is also a neighbor of mine that I did not know, but everytime I look over there Im sad.So people have a heart the families dont need this.

I think we can all agree what a tragic ACCIDENT this was. Mr. Dukes sounds like a wonderful man who will be missed by all that knew & loved him. My thoughts also go out to Chad, the driver of the pickup. I'm very close to Chad and I can tell you that he's having a very difficult time dealing with this tragedy. Al thou he did stay in his own lane (he did NOT go into the oncoming lane to pass the semi) and was only going 35mph, the ACCIDENT couldn't be avoided. It didn't matter how old the drivers were, it could have happened to any one of us! It was an ACCIDENT with two victims.
Your very right TAG! John wasn't the only victim. Everyone of us are just beside ourselves over this Accident. But there is one thing we can say about the second victim, Chad. Please make sure you tell him this for us "thank you for getting into john's car and staying by his side until medical professionals arrived." We thank him from the bottom of our hearts for keeping him company in his last moments. It was greatly appreciated..... Our thoughts are with Chad also.

Hometown Girl - Orleans....... what are you talking about? I have said nothing bad about this man at all...... I have defended him and will continue to defend him till the day I take my last breath! Maybe you should read the comments start to finsh before you go jumping to conculsion. I have only spouted off to those maggets that have tried to be little his name......... I am no afraid to post my real Name - what about you! I did it because I have nothing to hide from. I loved this man as much as I loved my own father. I hate - yes HATE - those self proclaimed people who think they know everything and claim to know everything. Not one of us know exactly what happened that tragic day. All we know for certain at this point in time is that John made a difficult decision to pull out from that aweful corner not aware that Chad was right there. Chad is a good guy and loved by many also. So for me needing to show some respect - your way off the mark lady. I have more respect for John and his family than you will ever know..........

Barb, what ever I said to upset you I am truely sorry! I have not once ever disrespected your uncle or his memory. I admit I have been rude to those meggats that want to be rude and stupid and say mean things about him or blame this aweful accident on him because of his age. HIS AGE NOR HIS SKILLS OR ABILITIES HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH TRAGIC EVENT. As I have stated several times. "I will defend his name and honor until the end." I do however respond to those meggots that want to hurt him and his reputation. I loved your uncle like my own dad. I have been with your aunt and cousin trina everyday, since we got the call that aweful friday morning. Trina is my best friend and I will not let anything like the bad comments people have to say hurt her or your aunt..... Once again, I am sorry if you have taken anything I have said as being hurtful to your uncle. I loved him and always will.

Tina, You take care hon and try to remember that we are not truly gone we are but a moment in time and it's not what we take it is what we leave behind. If we but touch one person and that leaves a good memory then we really are never truly gone. If you recall the fun, laughter and yes even the tears then your heart has taken a picture and you will always have him near. Smile for that is all he would have wanted.
