DNR seeks input on early doe seasons

In what can best be described as a trial balloon, state wildlife officials plan to quiz hunters about holding special antlerless-deer seasons in September.

as a hunter i believe that the dnr should hold a 1 week early archery season in september this would control the population of the deer herd especially here in logan county were we dont have a rifle season so its kind of hard to control the population, my uncle was on his way home from work the other night and saw 25 deer in one field 15 in another and 12 in two more but with out a rifle season in logan we dont have as many opporunities as countys that have a rifle season to manage our doe population

my post is not an audit i am a serious deer hunter and the deer population is getting out of controll so bad that there are more and more accidents every week. i mean dont get me wrong i hate that i have to buy an extra doe stamp, because that costs me 20 dollars and i might not even kill a deer so if u dont believe me then fuck you

Sorry if your offented, we in Nicholas County have always felt sorry for you hicks in the sticks of Logan County... I imgaine you do have trouble buying a doe stamp with food stamps or current credit card allocation system. I urge all hunters,do not support a early doe season in Logan County... long live the deer!

Hey gman and Doe Deer, who pissed in your Cheerio's? If the deer population is getting out of control in Logan Co., then they should have a doe season late in the year just like they do in other counties.

I am all for hunting season, any time of the year. They are way over populated. They eat up everyone's garden's and flowers. Something has to be done. I also think that there should be a gun seaason in Logan County. There is not enought deer killed down there and they are in bred and it is sick. You can drive thru the park and see deer that are deformed, it is sick. That is just my opinion.

It's about time the DNR asks our opinions on things. I just wish the holy right would leave those of us alone who would like to hunt on Sundays. If they can fish and picnic, why can't I hunt? Don't use the noise excuse either, 4 wheelers, motor boats, splashing in the pool, barking dogs, etc. make more noise than my gun. It's not like I open up and fire off 10 or more shots, ya know. Hunters don't have to fire that many times to get the job done.

The appearance that the DNR is wanting our input is great, but they will never take our input into consideration. The true sportsman want whats best for the wildlife, while the DNR and appointed officials want whats best for the economy of the state. Because the sportsman generate so much revenue we should be able to sway the officials in the direction we want.

Sadly they will. Their results(If any) will be based on how It affects their pocket books, not ours.

I heard that some counties will get an early bow and an early muzzle loading season. Is Nicholas Co. one?

i have tried and tried to get the DNR to listen... went to their meetings they have and wrote my state representatives and called the Beckley DNR HQ. They dont give a crap about hunters or our opinions. Someone please tell me the reason that extra deer stamps went up? i remember when they were 5 dollars, i leave for the military in 2001 and come back in 2007 and they went from 5 to 20.... like what was said before they care only about money. The deer population all over the state of West Virginia is very very high. I live in the middle of summersville and have deer in my garden every freaking night. 4-5 at a time. Yet i grew up in Mt.lookout and we never had a problem with them out there. Because we had to pay 40 dollars to get a freakin permit for crop damage. Once again all about the money. The DNR are worthless and lazy. I agree every County in this state should have 1 week open at the end of buck(rifle) season that you can kill 2 doe and it not count against your sportsman package. my 2 cents. and living in logan county u should b able to kill as many deer that u want (buck or doe) and not even worry about the DNR catching u.
