Good to see the state wants to roll over and play dead! We surely don't want to offend the muslims!

This sould be a private school. No public school funding should be allowed.

To the leaders of the school, if you don't like it here LEAVE. I for one am tired of hearing that the state walks around you like you are something special. If you want public dollars for your school, then follow the state mandates .

"But during the court case, documents state, the department learned of new allegations and "misrepresentations" by TiZA. Those involve the sharing of resources and staff between the school and its landlord, the Muslim American Society of Minnesota; TiZA's clothing rules; the organization of the school's calendar around Muslim holidays; an Arabic-language curriculum that might have included religious overtones; and efforts to market TiZA as an Islamic school in its early years. "

Yes...we just learned of these things. Until now we had NOOOOOOOOOO idea.

And why does the Muslim TIZA Academy get public funding for education? I guess since they are teaching muslims instead of Christians it's OK to fund them. Nice job DFL!

The US Govt cries about Islamic only schooling overseas.....but when the outbreak begins on our own soil...it gives them public money.

Anyone else smell the hypocrysy in the air?

There is NO place in America for a cult like this.

CAIR gives you a watered down politically correct version of what THEY want you to see concerning Islam......because if you hade live in the middle east for as long as I have, and seen REAL Islam up close and personal, you would all be screaming at your congressperson to halt the importation of this disease.

Call your congressperson NOW..( except Ellison)

The whole article is misleading. Why does the media whitewash this whole thing? If this was a Catholic/Christian/Jewish school all heck would break out and there would be a complete investigation by an actual reporter. The schools lawyers you have to give them credit they are smart enough to create smoke screens as they scramble to change the school or at least make the appearance.
Also, the comment about the high test scores, that is false. I've followed every article ever written about this school and that is not what was brought out. Clearly this is a religous school and we the taxpayers are paying for it.

The funding for this school should have been pulled the second that these "new" allegations/misrepresentations were learned about.

1) TiZA's clothing rules: Schools reserve the right to have a dress code, however, does this school require Islamic dress? If so, that is not something a publicly funded school can require.

2) The organization of the school's calendar around Muslim holidays: Being located in Inver Grove Heights, is this school part of that district? If so, it should be required to follow the calendar of the district, not its own.

3) An Arabic-language curriculum that might have included religious overtones: Although an Arabic-language curriculum (one elective course) is fine, religious overtones of any kind, other than in a compare/contrast sense with other religions for the purpose of education and tolerance is unacceptable, and a violation of the Constitution.

4)Efforts to market TiZA as an Islamic school in its early years: This means they should have become a private school, funded solely by tuition, and ineligible for any public funding whatsoever.

Since the school seems to always want to hide the truth about their activities, they should be shut down for their subversion and indifference to our laws.

The overt racism shown by most of the posters here aside, there is no place in public education for religious doctrine. If they want to run a Muslim school, then by all means do so. But don't expect tax dollars to run it. This would be the same if a Christian group were trying to run a charter school.

Keep up the good work ACLU!

I wonder if I enroll my Christian children into this academy - would they make the accomadations for them? Doubt it, more than likely they would discourage them from attending this so called public school.

Hey dipstick! If you had really been following the TIZA Muslim Academy story for the last three years you would have questioned why this school gets public funding (taxpayer money). Yes! It get's public funding (taxpayer money)!

Instead you are to busy looking for racism around every corner instead of asking the tough questions.

The ACLU is nothing more than a puppet organization for progressives, democrats, socialists, and communists.

The case has yielded thousands of pages of court records, many of them sealed, and strong emotion.

I would like to know what information is being sealed. Is it is because the school is a teaching ground for Muslim religion. We seem to get all the facts when a case involves a Catholic priest. Why the double standard?

Islamic and Muslim teachings should be outlawed and any one who practices them should be deported. If you think this is wrong then ask yourself what are they doing to Christians right here in our own country

Or what they do to women. Or boys. Or babies. Or homosexuals. Or people who do not want to convert to Islam. Or people who question the prophet-hood of Mohamed. Or to people who want to quit Islam.

People who want to practice this ideology religiously need to be contained away from societies that value individual rights and responsibilities.
