World trade is important to all, but look at what has happened. We have Eurasian Milfoil, Emerald Ash Boarers, Zebra mussels and on and on and on. Commerce has cause a lot of damage to the emvironment, but there is no way to stop it. Shippment would have to be fumigated before they are closed up, but shippers wouldn't do because of the expense or greed.

Given I used to live on the shores of lake Erie I have to say Zebra Mussels are about the best import we have ever had, they shaved decades off of cleaning the lake..

I know they are hell for boaters and mess with the ecosystem in the lake itself but at least the water is clean*er
