International Falls is pretty decent

International Falls is a wonderful place to raise children. Compared to other communities, the crime rate is almost nil. Anyone can say "I'm proud to say my hometown is I Falls.". Our town is small and boasts a junior college. Also compared to other towns and cities, I.Falls has nice weather most of the time. No nasty hurricanes, floods and tornadoes simply don't occur. Of course, nothing says they "can't happen" in the future.
It's a tourist Mecca in the summer; therefore, prices get jacked up in all the stores and tourists' attractions.(That doesn't seem too fair to the residents who live here.) I do not know how the low income people survive. I personally know many who would not want the continuing stigma of "being on welfare" to get by. Neither would the middle income individuals. In that regard, it would be a blessing if some consideration could be given to those folks. Having the taxpayer pay their way is certainly not an answer. It is an insult to both the individuals and the other hard-working taxpayers.
Another thing: There are two main highways. We are back in the dark ages here. With the amount of tourists flocking into our city, serious consideration should be given, that, at least one of these highways, especially 53, for 4-lane access. This access has been promised to us since the 50's. Stuck at the end of nowhere apparently means we are not important enough to have decent highways.
Other than that, I still say International Falls is a great town to live in.
