I have a campsite reserved at this park and I read about the swimmer's itchy.. and I have some questions..
Is it worst at different times of year??? am I safer from it in mid August?
Has anyone had it from Interlochen State park this year?
I am told Bug and Sun lotion will help prevent it???

Some people get it always... some people don't. Know way to know which one you'll be. I recommend swimming off of a boat at duck lake if you have the chance. The deeper you are the less chance you'll get it. It mostly is found along shore and in the shallows. Oil works great as a barrier. Sun oil, baby oil. just make sure you reapply sunblock often cuz that oil will make ya burn to a crisp. Always shower for added security when your done at the beach. Thats been my experience atthe State Park for the last 20 years.
