Scum of the earth right here. Watch all the other videos of the officer shooting the dog. he wasent bitting or any thing. This police department will be considered the scum of the earth and this will haunt them for the rest of there days, when you google Hawthorne i hope this story is the first to show up. and show the PD that they are scum.

Im from Tx, I just saw the vid and posted it on my facebook page tagging the aspca. Then sent a letter to them asking that they not let an innocent be treated like this. The dog did nothing wrong! How are we expected to trust out government if a life like that means so little?

Disgusting to see the abuse of power...and cops wonder why we hate them. I'm particularly disappointed at the poor decision made to fire shots in a crowded area that could have easily ricocheted and hit an innocent bystander...clearly a poor choice made by people we trust to protect us. Instead of thinking of a way to keep everyone involved safe, the first resort is to violence and unnecessary gun use on a a dog that did NOTHING to deserve that fate. And VERY disappointed that it occurred in front of small children... If any of you Hawthorne cops have kids, you can imagine the horror those kids witnessed and how kids may come to fear and hate cops rather than respect them. I cannot respect police who cannot do their job well, who put more people in danger than necessary, and who kill innocent animals. Please educate your police staff on dog behavior and how to handle them without excessive violence. From a very disgruntled East Coaster

Iowa here. Posted to Facebook and everyone is disgusted by it. Cops will never get respect. You give none to others. You abuse your power and you're above the law. You make me want to puke. Just disgusting. If you didn't have your badge you wouldn't be nothing but criminals. What am I saying. You are criminals.

When I was a child the police were someone I looked upto. Just as I did the government who were to care for us. Now I feel like this is a communist state where we, the everyday man doing everyday things, are the enemy of the state. Photographing of the police should be welcomed by every citizen and authority. The time has come where our governments and their authorities abore those they are to protect but will twist the law completly out of shape to harass and arrest out of their own sense of self importance. It is repugnant.
That said, I am from the UK , an alie of the USA , and at this moment I am ashamed to admit to that fact. My hero's are dead.

I hope this piece of sh*t cop pays for what he did. He should be kicked off the force and face criminal charges.

This police department is out of control! I hear they even brought back some officers that were fired for brutality and the city paid out millions because of these officers.

Absolutely horrible.
The guy was wandering around like so many others... Wasn't violent, no threat, etc.
It would have taken a few seconds to ask the man who was more than willing to turn around so they could cuff him to secure his dog prior.
At least, it would have been the intelligent choice.
No. They decide to risk a dog protecting it's owner. Decide to risk grabbing at a dog they aren't familiar with, who's owner they have been screwing with. And to top it all off, risk shooting at a dog while other civilians are near.
While, if they had just used a bit of common sense before harassing him for doing what many people there were already doing-- The dog would be alive.

This is why I will never trust police these days.
All I've seen lately is lack of thought process from them and abuse of power.

I hope all the officers involved in this are out of their jobs for not properly assessing the situation and taken the obvious best course of action.

Prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance.

I live in this city and what's sad is that the location of this horrible incident is literally right across the street from an elementary school.

How about sad the dog got adopted by a POS owner. The owner should get charged for making the police kill the dog. If the owner wanted to stop, fine, but blast music, cause any other disturbance, he was asking for the police to contact him. Isn't it funny that this same guy has had numerous bad contacts with this same police department, yet he basically begs them for another contact. Good thing he is a pos and gets free defense attorney that can help him for his new criminal charge. GREAT job officer for making sure the dog didn't bite you or any other officer

Obviously u aren't capable of reading but no where does the story mention that "many other" assholes were there blasting their music and cussing at cops after being asked to turn the music down. Most of the people around there weren't trying to cause a disturbance. Hope the guy gets to remember gettin his dog killed for a lo time to come. He probably already forgot about it though because he's brain dead

The guy was there to antagonize the police. He's at fault. You act like an idiot, you get what is coming to you(in this case your dog). Lets think about this.....if the owner would have been exercising his dog at the park like he should have instead of making a sceen for the camera crew then he would still have his dog. STUPID!!!! You know the owners wrong, why make it into the police is "out of control"? Was it the police fault this guy didn't have control of his dog? NO! What a piece of work.........Leave the police to do their job or at least leave your dog at home!

I would like to know what's illegal about taping police? They cops saw the guy put the dog in the car. They walked down to the corner. As a peace officer why did the cops not talk to the guy? It took two cops to cuff this man? He turned around.Had he not that would be resisting arrest. The cops saw the dog in the car.As a trained peace officer why would they cuff this guy and not address the dog? No the cops were not paying attention. One of them should have talked to the guy before cuffs went on.We have the same cop mentality out here on Long Island, N.Y.All gun hoe NO personal diffussion community skills. To cops to put cuffs on a guy who turned around???
