Nope! He has Mountain City Chevrolet, Mountain City Ford, and a used car lot in Louisa. He's not an honest person though.

I remember when him & Linda got married, they lived in a 12x55 mobile home up Collins Creek near Warfield. Now look what hes got, losing the car lots was just bird food to him. Hes got a house big enough now to let some of the flood victims stay a while. After all most of them got flooded by the mining companys he has thats stripping the land for rain water to wash out thier homes. Hell he'd probally charge them rent......

The closing of the Chevy store has nothing to do with Mr Booth as a person .

He has lost the franchise for now, but his contract was just negotiated. So, it is good for a year. By the time his contract is up, Chevy will be back on their feet and he will get it back. It is no skin off of his back.

i totally agree with you. he had to start somewhere. he worked hard to get where he is today and he is the main thing keepin this town goin. i mean come on, we wouldn't have the community center or alot of other great things in this town if it werent for him. and as far as MOUNTAIN CITY goes, i seriously doubt that he lost it and if he did, i'm sure he'll get it back or he wanted to lose it in the first place.

He didn't lose it per se. GM is downsizing at the moment by closing some car lots in smaller cities, like Inez. Thus, this was a decision by GM and in no way reflects on Mr. Booth. In other words, he didn't lose it because he didn't pay his bills - it's closing due to the fact the country is headed for an economic depression.

Jim Booth "wannabees"? Who wouldn't want to be like him? He came from nothing and now is one of the wealthiest people in our area. He worked hard and provided for his family, and our entire county. I don't know the man personally, but he is absolutely proof-positive that you can achieve your goals, no matter where you start from, if you work hard and make wise decisions...

People around here are so salty and bitter...

I hate it when everyone else wants to talk bad about someone who does well for themselves. He might not hand out money like the welfare system THANK GOD but he keeps the jobs around. I do think he should do more for his employees though, not just the bosses but all of his employees. People who feel appreciated will work harder.

Ummm...I was referring to the ones who ACTUALLY W-O-R-K as in the coalminers, not the little pansy's at the car lot. And just because they have insurance(which has too many deductibles, and is paid for out of the employees own checks) doesn't mean he "takes care of them". He doesn't even provide the with bibs/uniforms/work clothes. And his bonuses are hardly anything. These men risk there lives, aren't they worth a little more than a measily attendance bonus?
