Smokers what do you think about being condemned for smoking a cigarette when some states are legalizing the smoking of pot?

Cigarettes cause 443,000 deaths per year. No one in recorded history has ever died from smoking marijuana. Ever. Not even some rare once in a blue moon case where someone has an allergic reaction.

As a nonsmoker that used to smoke and now has COPD, I can understand people not wanting it in their personal space. Regardless of what type of smoke it is, cigs or weed.

cigaretts have killed my mom, aunts and uncles. As far as pot smoke, there is controversy as to whether it causes lung cancer. It depends on where you get your information. I do know it makes people stupid. Given the choice between the two evils, I would rather have someone blowing pot smoke in my face any day over a nasty cigarette.

Ever single official medical study over the past 30 years has shown no link between lung cancer and weed. If you want a source, The American cancer society. http://www.cancer.org/treatment/treatmentsand...

Not only does it not cause cancer, it's actually used to treat it. It relieves pain, inhibits tumor growth, controls seizures, and can be used to treat a number of other illness such as glaucoma.

I'm working with facts, not opinions. Cigarettes sucks. Fact. Being bitten in the balls by a rattle snake sucks. Fact.

You jokers that are getting on here talking about smoking pot is good for you, that's crazy, you are more dangerous behind a wheel of a car after you have been smoking pot then you are smoking a cig.

I smoke but you would not catch me with pot in my hand much less smoking it. I think our government is a joke by raising the prices of our tobacco and raising the taxes on it and then turning around and voting that it is legal to smoke pot in some states.

I don't have a problem with sick people smoking it to help relieve pain but it makes me sick that some states are legalizing pot for anyone over the age of 18 for leisure use.

Pot is not even in the same ballpark of danger behind the wheel as alcohol, and medication that makes you drowsy are. But that's not what we are talking about.

What's wrong with using it for leisure? Marijuana makes you relax and improves anxiety, and overall well-being.

Tobacco kills 15,000 people a day - one person every six seconds. Marijuana has never killed anyone.

Marijuana has been scientifically proven to successfully treat many illnesses. Marijuana is not addictive, tobacco is.

Tobacco contains nicotine which hardens the arteries, marijuana does not. When tobacco is burned it breaks down into the chemical called `N Nitrosamine.' Which not only causes lung cancer, but many other types of cancer as well.

Marijuana contains THC, THC is a bronchial dilator,in other words, a cough drop.

These are all facts, they are not debatable. They are 100% true. Do you even know why marijuana was made illegal in the United States in the first place? Also, can you please explain your logic in why cigarettes are less harmful when there's overwhelming evidence that shows cigarettes are like a bazooka pointed at your face, whereas marijuana is just a feather.

The only negatives of marijuana is making you hungry which could lead to overeating. And trouble with short-term complexing motor function skills. Oh no, Marijuana makes it so you can't solve a 5000 piece puzzle for 5 minutes, won't someone think of the children?!

Not thinking of anyone but myself? Smoking pot hurts no one. You smoking cigs in public can be deadly for others with second hand smoke, and people with breathing problems. If anyone is being selfish, it's tobacco users. Again, look at every single medical study over the past two centuries if you're going to be in denial.

I do not believe what I just read on here, people that smoke pot should know that the aroma from pot is the most disgusting smell in the world.

If you think that smoking pot hurts no one then something is wrong with you my friend. People that get behind the wheel after smoking pot have caused many people to be killed because they were high.

I would rather live next to a pig farm then smell the disgusting aroma of pot

Care to back that up with facts? Because I can with my statements. People are three times more likely to cause a fatal accident while on over the counter cold medicine, than on marijuana.

I'm not saying it's ok to get behind the wheel while on anything that impairs you in the slightest, but trying to say that it's worse than cigarettes and alcohol is one of the most asinine that you could say.

Can u afford air freshner. If u can, use it.

Imagine this, laid up in bed at home dying with colon cancer. The morph pills won't kill the pain and thinking, I can't go through this anymore. People think if u were given a little booze with the morph, it might kill the pain. No it will kill u. If only someone would bring you a weed pill, it would not kill u with the morph. I hope, if I ever get in that condition, that my family would be kind enough to give me medical weed. I'll take it in a toke, a pill or brownies. I would leave that decision to them on which method they would use. So, I say fire em up terminally ill people and people that have inherited diseases such as arth, ibs, chrones, etc.

Marijuana is known to be psychologically addictive in up to 7% of users, and, among heavy users, withdrawl symptoms, after stopping using, are common, with similar symptoms to tobacco or alcohol withdrawl. Roughly 20% of people are unable to quit voluntarily for more than a few days.

Per year, the increased risk of lung cancer increases by 7% among Marijuana smokers, compared to 6% for Tobacco smoke, due to Marijuana having roughly twice the number of carcinogenic PAC's.

It has been linked to much higher rates of bronchitis and other lung problems.

Smoking marijuana and getting behind the wheel of a vehicle increases your chance of an accident by up to 2.4 times. This is less dangerous than Alcohol, but significantly more dangerous than driving sober.

You can OD on Marijuana, people don't because of the amount it takes to do so. Practically, you never will unless you were injecting yourself with refined THC to intentionally OD.

THC is known to harm memory and learning, brain development, arthritis, worsen existing mental problems, cause cancers and birth defects. Heavy use of Marijuana has been shown to be linked to depression and suicide.

Speaking of someone not having time to read over the studies, you might want to make some for yourself. Look at the dates, sample size, and sources of those "studies" Most of which supports the facts that have already been presented. You have to dig pretty damn deep to find some random jagoff doing a "study" on the effects of smoking weed that come out to be negative. Then again, there are 3% of scientist out there that think global warming is not real.

Good luck trying to debate it with the medical professionals that know what the hell they are talking about.
