"Barricades closing Hacienda at Skyline Drive on the north and Canada Sombre on the south went up at about 1 a.m."

Who thought up the idea to wake everyone up in the valley at 1 A.M.? Why didn't they put the barriers up the afternoon before or in the morning?

"La Habra Heights City Manager Shauna Clark said the biggest complaint she heard was about drivers trying to use Reposado Drive as a shortcut instead of turning around."

That's because the "closure" is poorly done, and unclearly marked, even with all the signs. It looks like Reposado is supposed to be the detour route.

Past closures were handled much more smoothly without sending commuters through side streets.

It was supposed to have been done in July, but they "forgot" to notify gas company, oil company and water district, so they could move their pipes.

It will be a much more fun project now. remember, the repairs are to fix damage by rainstorms. Since they're now doing it in the rainy season, the whole road might just slip into the canyon.

One minor complaint. The southbound warning sign says "road closed at Skyline". The Sherrif is actually turning traffic around at the temple. Guys, make up your mind!

I agree. It's bad enough that the onramp from Hacienda to the 60 westbound has been closed for so damn long - now they're closing Hacienda until after Thanksgiving!

This whole thing really sucks for those of us who live in the Heights and have to work in Los Angeles.

Is this the road that goes from Fullerton to the 60 freeway? If it is, what is the best way for drivers heading up Harbor Blvd. to get to the 60? Is there an official detour or an official suggested alternate route? Thank you.

Harbor Blvd is still open. It is Hacienda that is closed.

Thank you. I'm not very familiar with that area and don't know the street names. Just know to follow Harbor to the 60.

Closure of Hacienda Road is not going smoothly today. A Semi Truck driver wedged his rig between a tree and a telephone pole. Incident is still active as of OCT 26 at 2:09 PM:

George,

Semi trucks are not allowed on Hacienda at any time. I hope that driver was cited.

That doesn't seem to stop them.

Sheriff needs to step up enforcement when road reopens.

The semi incident shows, once again, that the "closure" is a failure, and commuters and residents suffer alike.

I don't get how you can say the closure is a failure. This illiterate hick had to drive past 7 separate signs forbidding him to be where he ended up, 4 for the road closure and 3 forbidding trucks on Hacienda North of Whittier. I guess the signs were put there for everyone else but him...his world the rest of us are just living in it. This guy should not only be cited, but his truck impounded until he passes another DMV test. Do you really want someone this ignorant driving a 20-ton truck on the same road with you and your kids?

The truck should have been left across the road for an effective barricade, the other baricades and signs aren't working.
