I don't mind having to show ID when voting, however, why does it need to cost 10 million. We are too broke to fund programs but somehow we have 10 million for this.
Tax breaks for the wealthy....no problem.
Fix the elections.........no problem.
Education funding.......problem.
It sounds like the Grand Ol' Party of racists want to fix the elections....... at any cost.

This is clearly aimed at the poor, the old, etc. One more example of the tea party racism at work again.

Voter ID's will stop voter fraud. One vote per person.Period. If the democrats didn't flood the elections with so many non humans. dead and phantom voters for their people, we wouldn't need the voter ID's. But they do cheat and therefore we need proof of a persons residence to vote. Anyone that claims it is the republicans that cheat, fine, more proof we need voter ID's. The argument that the poor can't afford this? Really? The card should either be free or a one time charge that is LESS than a pack of cigarettes and/or a six pack of beer.

Actually, I've been shocked for years that no one has ever asked me for ID... many other states require it, we should, too. Voter fraud is a problem in all parties, in all elections. I have nothing to hide, showing my ID to guarantee that my vote is being made by me is no big deal.

It's about time! I could be anyone going in to vote. No I.D. required, no voter's registration card. The first 3 years after I moved I found out my name was still listed at my previous Berks Co. borough. Anyone could have voted for me there since they too never required I D.
I would LOVE to also see a "receipt" of your vote. I constantly see voter aides fumble with the computer cards "re-programming" them. And why do they need to know which party you are with before they give you that card?? Why doesn't it show your name on the computer screen when you vote and print a receipt?? I think waaayyy too many politicians would fight to the death to keep voters in the dark. I WANT PROOF OF MY VOTE!! And a cross reference in the computer system so there is no way anyone else can vote in your name. And... a cross reference to death records- state driving record address changes AND tax rolls to verify name address ect.Radical maybe..but I just want a record of my vote and assurance no none else can do it for me.

Thank you for pointing that out. Your in depth analysis and observations are truly invaluable to the tenor of this discourse.

REPUBLICANS are just as dandy at rigging elections ! Did you forget that George Bush REALLY did not win the election - the Supreme Court made him President and it is filled with REPUBLICAN appointees !!

All 4 independent recounts gave it to Bush. Gore tried to STOP the recounts via the legal system because he knew he was losing. Try doing some research before you post.

Here's a solution- Don't vote. Not like it makes any difference anyhow. I will never understand why people waste time standing in line just to vote for one a-hole phoney over some other a-hole phoney. It is all the same, don 't waste your time.

I don't know, they always ask to see my ID when I vote. I thought it normal and not unreasonable.

The state does not have $10 million to waste on such crap. If Gov. Corbett passes this law, he probably wont be re-elected. Pennsylvania can find a much better use for that $ 10million like putting it back into education or towards the replacement of gas lines so another explosion will not happen.

People like you are morons. every vote counts moron. do you realize how much a difference it would make if everyone voted? Seeing as how you dont vote, you then have no right to complain when the actions of our elected officials dont go the way you think they should.

That is just a waste of valuable government funds that we dont have to begin with. Do you realize that the economy sucks? If everything that you stated was put into place that it would cost the government approximately $25 million that they cannot spare.

You did hit on the stupid part of the bill. Why assign any money to it? Just require the person who already checks each voters name against their register book to also check for a valid ID. There should be zero cost to this bill. The 25 mil probably goes to some reps in-law to study the problem.

These posts are shining examples of what's wrong with our country. Every initiative, bit of legislation or simple idea is broken down to political affiliation. Why can't any idea stand on its own merit regardless of which party brings it the fore? We the people are acting as the politician would like us to act. Keep fighting amongst ourselves so we don't see them (politicians) for who they really are.

I show ID every time I go to a doctor now and at the bank. This does not seem to be unfair. No surprise Portly Santoni is against it. He would appeal to people with no ID
